Re: The Long Road To ISA Millionaires

Good question about benchmark. What is an appropriate stick to beat ourselves with? I feel there is a lot of answer from the simple question. From memory HYP#1 has returned about 11% per year since inception - Whether some of the other HYP portfolios have returned a similar level and whether the co...

can anyone share their experiences of ANY petrol turbo cars/engines. We had from a new a Daihatsu Charade GTti (94K reg) which had a similar engine specification to these newer three cylinder Fords. Engine was a 993cc petrol triple with: 12valves - Double overhead cam - If you find an image, you'll...

Re: Grand Tour Namibia Special...well worth a watch

Well said CK, an excellent post. The scenes of them trying to load the car bodies on to the boat were just so utterly stupid that I found them annoying. Some time ago, I was chatting the font of all knowledge 'Namely the chap who looks after my motorbike' and discussion turned to American TV vs Amer...

Hi wyndrum, So now I am in DC., GNK, LCL (Ladbrooks) at 120.28p and SPH at 34.42p(Sinclair Pharma), both reporting next week. anywhere between 3and 5% will do fine. Sorry about being a bit quiet this week - Work has been more awfully bonkers than usual. My one trade this week was perhaps bought on b...

Then there's econtalk (thanks PB for recommending it years ago) http://econtalk.org/ Hi Urbandreamer, Thank you, one of the most enjoyable parts of participating on these boards is to enhance the life of someone else on occasion. I've found the NPR Planet Money podcast an essential listen. Much lig...

Re: Would you go driverless?

Im a car fan. I love driving, I love cars. And I love riding a motorbike. But im a minority. There are plenty of pressure groups that feel its transportation only. and plenty use it for just that. But I think driverless has its place - If people with a passion are left alone. but they won't be. I t...

Re: Levis 501s - best source?

T K Maxx often have Levis - I have couple of pairs (not 501s) which cost about £32.

Matalan sell Wranglers for a similar price. The Wranglers are a far better constructed jean, the Levis are thin and insubstantial by comparison.

wyndrum wrote: Hi PB, Are you risk adverse or are you looking for an annual 10% or greater returns or what? Hi there, I'll sort of duck that question by answering it. I used to target a return of 20% per year with little concern as to how that was achieved - As an example, I have a standing order w...

Re: Radiator and valves

I think expecting any room that size to warm up instantly from cold is a big ask. It funny you should say that as I've got the heating on at the moment and the radiator next to the desk (I know it's the dining room but it still got a desktop and desk in the corner) is running at 60ºC which gives △T...

or (b) any self respecting kitchen installer's plumber would have suitable ones in his van? We let our plumber recommend the TRV valves and he chose a set of Drayton TRV4's which I see are £16 each from Screwfix. Whether they are best in show is a question I'm not qualified to answer, the plumber w...

Re: Grand Tour Namibia Special...well worth a watch

But with virtually no competition from other motoring programmes I'm enjoying it enough to stick with it, and in overall terms it does seem to be gradually improving. While a little off topic, I'm really enjoying Lucifer which is also on Amazon Prime. I'm enjoying Lucifer so much I've run through s...

£133 or £158k

I'm getting a bit fed up with having to withdraw money from portfolio. Unfortunately the house still requires attention and with great reluctance, I've liberated another £25k from £158k with a view towards getting it finished at last. The result is starting 2017 with a portfolio value of £133k on wh...

Re: Specimens for a child's microscope?

I realise this might be considered a bit of a cheat but you can buy prepared microscope slides from the like of e-bay for about £7. I searched Google using the term 'prepared microscope slides uk' and came up with a decent selection. Incidentally, human blood cells are quite large as are the cells i...

Re: Clarkson advert

I've got a Fire Stick that I bought on a whim for about £25. While it is a remarkable piece of a equipment for its size, the wi-fi reception was insufficient to watch any kind of streaming TV and as the unit is so small there is no internet port so it's wi-fi or nothing.

Regards,

I'm planning on spending about £400 on a new PC from PC World and a new Kindle (probably about £80). The builder/developer claims the energy certificate will be AAA. The Windows will be triple glazed. I am somewhat surprised to see that they are going to the trouble of installing wet underfloor. A friend bought his first flat a couple of years ago. It is a relatively modern build (Within the last ...
