Re: Installing google chrome

It's very slow, less than 3mbs I think, so that is what the problem must be. I asked a week or so to upgrade to fibre, which is available here, but although I was told it could be done within 7 days and I have already received the router they are now telling me it won't happen till Jan 31, too late...

Re: cgt position when takeovers are for cash and shares and one held shares in both companies

I held 539 shares in BG which cost me £7,146.99 and 492 shares in RDSB which had cost me £9,605.80. At the takeover last February, I received £2,064.37 cash and 240 RDSB shares. As I understand HMRC's guidance notes on this subject, I don't have to declare anything in my 2015-16 tax return because ...

Re: Declare SIPP Dividends on Tax Return?

My accountant has asked me what contributions I made to my SIPP for my tax return. I replied that I didn't make any contributions, just reinvested dividend payments. They are now asking for details of these. Is this correct? I was under the impression that the money was regarded as part of the fund...

Re: SSGA FTSE All Share ETF (FTAL) Tax Treatment

If I hold the ETF for only part of a year, do I pro-rate the calculated earnings and, if so, on what basis? For instance by day-count/365? No. You take the number of shares in the ETF you owned on the last day of the accounting period, multiply it by the "per share excess reportable income&quo...

And more generally, financial service providers (*) will generally supply a date-of-death valuation if requested when one informs them of the death, (*) Or at least, those in this country will. Hi Monabri I like the look of your plan! I'd love a copy of the spreadsheet - not with your personal details of course! - but just to give me an idea how it works. No doubt my wife and I have relatively simple pensions, but they're a mixture of DB and DCs, some we can take at 55, some at 60, some a...

I wish RightMove had a 'centre here, but five miles out, don't include the actual town' as when I put a place I could commute from 99% of the houses that come up in the price range are, obviously, in that town and I don't want to live IN the town, I want to live in a village 5-10 miles from it. Re: bulk foods to freeze

For a new mum, cooking spicy food may not be a good idea since there can be some transference via breast milk. John Why would that be a problem? It struck me as unlikely, given the number of people who live off spicy food, and a quick Google suggests consumption of spicy food by the mother is not a...

So for the Fool who doesn't pay much attention to their manually created portfolio spreadsheet until times such as the new year - how does one handle this? In my example, I had 1244 IAP shares before the split. Now I have 710, with 588 TCAP shares at a book cost of zero. I notice the same has taken...

Re: demanding originals of marriage cert AND ..

But what is an "original" birth or marriage certificate? Surely they're just official extracts from the register anyway. So by paying the nominal fee you can get an "original" that's as valid as any you got at the time. Sorry, but not only is that a little bit cold, but also pla...

While we're at it, where's your evidence that anybody has ever been defrauded in a contactless transaction? Scott. I have no particular belief that retailers are defrauding people.
