Re: Expansion of HYPish portfolio

Hello Plutus, I bought back into Stagecoach last year when it's price dipped into view. In my experience it is well a well run, workaday transport group. Yes, it is susceptible to government policies and it might not have Brian Souter's guiding sense at some stage ahead, so dyor. However, I would al...

Re: Has the thinking on HYP dividend cover changed?

2 times cover is easy to remember but only part of the picture. I have, today taken the plunge with Unilever which is showing a dividend cover of 1.44. The P/E of 22 raised one eyebrow, but I have never felt the price attractive enough to buy in. At 3% the yield wouldn't stack up as HY but I have bo...

Re: Balfour Beatty Trading Update

Still under reconstruction after a "blue chip crash". It's share price has recovered but no divi yet. I sold all mine except for a small holding in an ISA. Wait and see.

Fyffes recommended cash offer from Sumitomo

In recent years it might not have been a HY for some, but I have been happy to hold this share as a regular, Euro based dividend payer.
Now it is all over- the share price is up 44% and another diversified component bites the dust. Who wants the cash now- we neeeeed the divi!

Re: Ever want to shout AAAARGGGHHH ?

Itsallaguess has highlighted a process that fits me exactlyish! I have even been restraining myself from rushing in and buying IG after my serial repeats of the process with other dividend darlings mentioned above. Usually I have bought in on a major drop, eg Capita recently, only to find the price ...

Re: Barclays

I joined Sharesoc a few years ago and attended a meet last year on shareholder rights. A report on it can be read on the website http://www.sharesoc.org. A law was enacted in 2014, which provides for dematerialisation of share certificates by 2023 for new issues and 2025 for existing certificates. T...

Re: Barclays

So they have vowed to charge £1,500 a year max to offer the service we have been using and a saving of £6 a trade for a seldom trader. The fee based culture creeps out steadily. I have accounts with Computershare and Equinity and nearly opened one with Halifax. PERHAPS THE FCA THINKS FEES SHOULD BE ...

Re: Mite Group Half Yearly

Sadly, I bought into both companies in recent months on the back of a price drop/profits warning. This is after watching for several years but not quite trusting their market place. I did the same with supermarkets, Pearson, Cobham, oil companies and others following a dividend reputation rather tha...

Re: M&S HAlf year results

I sold out of my shareholding this morning. They have had too many attempts to change and still their clothing results slide.
Even buying back in at the lower level doesn't seem attractive. They will change people again and I wish the brand well.
