Re: Probate fee/ Deed of variation

In the OP's situation, especially where at the moment (either in this thread or elsewhere) she doesn't envisage IHT being in question, I'd probably save the fees. For an ordinary domestic situation, I definitely would. Get three estate agents to value the property, take the average of the three and...

Whereas...

Re: Personal Tax Account

I'm not sure if your NI payment will be reflected in the PTA that quickly - my NI details says for 2016-17 that my record is not available yet, though I have made a Class 2 payment already for this year

Am I right in thinking that the NI section only gets updated after the end of the tax year?

Re: Retirement property thoughts

Thank you very much to both of you - much food for thought. CK - I particularly appreciate your alternatives as I hadn't thought of these. Am I right in thinking that any mortgage arrangement would need to be reflected in the legal ownership of the property? I assume we'd need a solicitor to set up ...

Retirement property thoughts

I've been debating which board this should be posted under - it contains elements of property, Legal and Taxes, or even DAK? If the moderator thinks it should be moved, please do so. I would be very interested in Lemonfools thoughts on the following: My wife and I have four children, two grown up an...

Re: Welcome TMFers

Thanks very much for the quick work! I realise I'm at risk of asking for the moon and stars, but two of the real strengths of TMF are (were?) the breadth of discussion boards, financial and non financial, and secondly the accumulated posts over the years. Plus of course the extremely helpful posters...
