Evening all.

Feeling much better than yesterday after seeing this forum appear.

Now back to lurking...

Well, here I am and I'll be posting my annual review of my HYP at the end of December, as usual.

I'm definitely not a "HYP stalwart" but this is my favourite board. 16 years of being educated, amused and enriched, then *bang* -- nothing.

How do we "rec"? I was always much better at that than posting original material.

Well done to those who invested the time and energy in setting this up at such short notice.

HYP is probably the most practically useful of the Boards so good to see it will likely live on.

Rats! And there was me thinking I'd been let off writing my Christmas monologue this year (you have been warned :) )

Checking in - long time lurker and occasional contributor.

Had been apprehensive about the end of the boards on TMF, very much hope that something equally civilised and valuable arises from the changeover

Also signing in to wish the new venture my best. I have only been a Fool for 6 years but found many of the Boards to be very informative and learnt a lot, including this Board.

Yes, they get marks for gall but, given the circumstances, I think they need to make their case on merit rather than hierarchical and historical entitlement. It was on their watch that they allowed a once-vibrant focus of valuable discourse to become devalued and defunct, even if they do get credit for its original formation.

It's good to see a level playing field for everyone rather than than the somewhat contrived and arbitrary hierarchy that has now been demolished through neglect and apathy. And my commendation to those who have, within a couple of days, replaced a decaying anachronism with a much more promising enterprise.

Hi everyone,

Long time lurker / occasional poster. Very happy to see HYP find a new home.

I assume that this board is not moderated (?) and so I hope that the members of the board can be self moderating, otherwise I think that we will quickly lose the most valuable contributors. For the avoidance of doubt I am optimistic!!

Fortunately many significant TMF posts are already in the WayBack Machine, preserved for posterity - and if they're not you can request them to be archived. I've already checked and found all but one of my HYP Christmas reviews were already archived and made sure the missing one is now there too (stop that groaning at the back!).

Gengulphus, in thanks for all the invaluable help and advice over the years I have found all the GDHYP annual reports and asked the WayBack Machine to archive those it did not already hold (both as a single OP and 'whole thread'). Here they are...

Great initiative and looking forward to "business as usual".

Any idea how we contact infrequent but really valuable posters like F958B, jackofbasel, valuemargin to let them know about this?

I've asked TMF, on the 'Closure' thread, if they'll consider sending out a blanket email-notice explaining the closure decision and time-scales. It seems such a shame not to do this, which might then cause infrequent posters to lose track of our progress over here. They've not answered yet, but hopefully will see the merit of such a process.

That said, don't forget that there's also still the TMF facility to 'Email reply to author', to send a post on TMF to any poster on the boards, so all you'd have to do would be to find a post on TMF from a poster you'd like to make aware of this issue, and then write a post explaining it. If you look under the posting window there's an option to email the post-reply to the author, and also one to un-tick that stops such a reply being posted to the boards. I'd recommend taking that course of action if you're particularly concerned about an individual who you think might not be aware of the closure.

On top of that, and to save you some time with valuemargin, I can tell you that the above process has already been carried out, so he'd hopefully already be aware.

You can also, if you've not already noticed, keep an eye on the Lemon Fool 'active members list' using the link at the bottom of the site pages, or the link below, and see if your favourite posters have already registered.

Oh man. Hang on. Has no one picked this up? Lootman returns! Please tell me you're the real thing and not the first instance of someone falsely appropriating an old and fondly remembered Fool UK name (at least by me - other opinions are no doubt available). Some of the paragraph quoted above makes me think you're the real deal. If so then welcome back. I rather enjoyed the way your different perspectives shook things up a bit around here sometimes. I think you also hung around the Investment/Unit Trusts board which is one I'm (and many others) are still trying to get created here.

Lemonfool is having a great first two days!

Another lurker here. I never posted on the Fool, but read the HYP posts every day, and have been running my HYP now for about 10 years. I shall try to actually contribute on this board!.
