My words! I thought the context made sense of it. ;)

Timeout - pure and simple. Another post after yours doesn't stop you editing yours. What it does do is add a comment at the bottom of your edited post saying when you edited it and how many times.

And by the way, the software cannot tell whether a subsequent post is in reply to your post or not. It can tell whether it quotes your post, but that's not the same thing - as this post demonstrates!

A quick and very basic question which I think is lkely to have been answered before now. How do I highlight text in yellow, including opening double quotation marks and the name of the LF member being quoted/replied to?

TIA

Jon

Can you see the quote marks to the right of the exclamation mark (above right near the poster's name)? If you click there you'll get the full quote from the post to which you are replying. Editing, carefully, can reduce the length of the quote to what you desire.

And previewing can check you actually have got what you desire - important when (for instance) deleting just one character too many can totally mess up the quote!

Hello all you stooze peeps. I wondered where you'd all gone to. I've just found your lemon site here and so joined as a pip. (Nice site Clary and Stooz). I've only just started playing with ISA's, funds and shares, instead of the now nearly non existent high interest accounts, so will be reading and reading. You are all miles ahead of me in here and the lingo will take some learning. Just snuggling into my new chair. May I have a biccy and a cuppa please? Now where do I begin reading I wonder....

Welcome!

That last is a good question. Assuming you are not in debt (see Dealing with Debt board) and have your spending under control (see Living Below Your Means board) and have maxed out all the options with 'high interest' accounts (see the ongoing topic of interest paying current accounts here: viewtopic.php?f=11&t=4139 ) you probably need to consider investing.

For investing you need an aim and retiring from paid employment is as good an aim as any - this is discussed here: viewforum.php?f=30

But you may wish to invest for other reasons and to look at other strategies, so the whole section of Investors' Rountable is your next port of call. There you can read about the High Yield strategy viewforum.php?f=15 , passive investing viewforum.php?f=55 and other strategies: viewforum.php?f=8 and when you're on your way you can ask for a review of how you are doing here: viewforum.php?f=56

Once you're loaded, this is the place to look for how to spend your money: viewforum.php?f=38

Here when you get into trouble: viewforum.php?f=2 ....

...and here for the upsets along the way: viewforum.php?f=44

...and here to meet your fellow lemons: viewforum.php?f=42

Hopefully we'll see you around!

Wow. Thank you for those links. This is a fabulous forum. I've got so much to think about now. The long term aim is an interesting question to muse on.... It's obviously in the think tank but never actually been asked directly.... I will be around as I see many fellow stoozers names in here.

Morning. What's with that "say thanks to the author" option that's appeared? How's it work and what happens please?

Do you mean the new rec system Ian? If so see this topic.
Chris
PS They're still pickering over the implementation details though.

Thank you Chris. I've been 'out of the loop' working for last three days.
