I'm stunned - he was the same age as me.

Sad news indeed; 53 is no age these days. This has been an awful year of loss...and there's still another week of it to go.

BBC Headline: "Queen misses Christmas Day church service 'because of cold'"

I'm glad she's not a musician.

I suppose folk will ask whether it might have been the wrong type of snow. Even occasional use can do your heart tissues in. Not that he ever touched the stuff, obviously...

Dear oh dear. Carrie Fischer, Richard Adams. This is getting a bit surreal.

It feels like celebs have to just hang on for the next four days...I hope the Queen gets over her cold!

And don't forget Nana (Liz Smith). Her death in the Royle Family repeat caused the eyes to well up, and then she dies for real.

I bet Jools Holland has been bricking it a bit.

His Hootnannay is filmed early, someone said September IIRC.

Hope the "live" line up doesn't include Quo, George Michael and God knows who else might be at risk before the show airs on the 31st...

I too was shocked when I heard the news about George Michael.
I didn't think much of his Wham! music at the time but when someone bought me a copy of ''Listen without prejudice'' man, I was totally blown away. I still am. What a genius. So sad.

On a lighter note with more than an element of the kind of black humour that the thought of death excites has anyone else come across this website?

That is more like a list of, "Did You Know They're Still Alive..?"

I'm a bit late to this one. The joke at our school was:

What's the difference between a Wham! record* and a George Michael record?
- On a George Michael record you can't hear Andrew Ridgley standing in the background...
