Law Debenture Corporation (LWDB)

Third Interim Dividend Announcement -


Declaring a third interim dividend of 7.625 pence per ordinary share payable in January 2024, representing an increase of 5.2% over the prior year's third interim dividend.

This dividend will be paid on 25 January 2024 to shareholders on the register at close of business on 22 December 2023.

LWDB shares will go ex-dividend on 21 December 2023.

Clearly it is a great success . The professional services side is just 21% of the asset value and yet has funded 34% of the dividends over the last decade. Be better off without the IT. Why do they bother?

That is an interesting stat.

It's perfectly possible of course, that the wholly Law Debenture owned professional services business valuation is very conservative. Or not.

It does keep delivering but there isn't really any great surprise in this announcement.

The pattern, since they went quarterly in 2020 at least, has been 3 identical interims then a 4th and final div that is circa 20% higher than the first 3 depending on the year's performance. Then rinse repeat the following year with all payments usually ~5% higher than the previous year. What would have been noteworthy if the amount had changed since the 1st and 2nd interims...
