I also find it useful. Thanks for your efforts.
BUT
Suggestion - why not do a Smallcap sweep thread, and add a new post every day. Or perhaps one thread per month. Rather than starting a new thread every day. Which I suspect will flood the board. And is also harder to read on these forums. See the difficulty folk are having next-thread-ing on the jokes board.

===============================
a bit confused..
i dont think "thread" has any meaning on this php software .
i think ..
MrC's Smallcap Sweep is a topic within the forum "shares ideas"
if he replies to the topic daily or whenever , then a "sort of thread" will build up within the topic.
on each reply , the topic is bumped to the top of the forum.
some of this is probably correct but possibly not all of it !

A thread by any other name...
My point is that starting a new thread/topic every day, as the title implies, wIll fill the board with lots of little threads. Which are a pain to navigate on these boards as there is no "next thread" button like there was in the old world.
And further there is no need. Because, as you say, these boards promote a thread back to the top whenever there is a new post, AND allow readers to jump directly to their own personal latest unread post. So it would be much better to have a single long continuous "thread" on this subject, rather than lots of little ones.

Re: MrC's Smallcap Sweep. 17-Nov-16
I have thought about the pros and cons of having a single Smallcap Sweep topic forever.
Pro: I don't add 200+ topics every year.
Cons: When you click on the topic the new day's entry will soon be far far down the page.
An inbetween solution is a new thread each month.
I wlll start that tomorrow and see how it goes.

If it is a Watched Forum (Board) or Watched Topic (Thread) then subscribers to these can be notified in the Notifications bell above. When they are notified, they go to the most recent posts on the Forum/Topic.
So not really at the foot, as such.

True, BUT...
If you click on the red circle thingy, to the left of the thread title on the board index, it takes you directly to your own personal "first unread post" in that thread. So there's no need to scroll through all the posts you have seen before. Very useful.
Or, as PD says, you can "subscribe" to the thread and receive direct notifications when it updates.
