No, I made a very good case for not trying to time the market.

Central bank interventions are just one of many things an investor should consider. I would never ignore them - as the old Wall Street mantra has it: "Don't fight the Fed".

No one mentioned timing the market. Like a politician you answer questions no one has asked because you don't the don't like the evidence that the market is now demonstrating. Mkt cap weighting is not the optimal way of constructing a portfolio to deliver the best returns of the asset class and that indeed dividends are more important than growth in delivering those returns.

Given that in the last 15 years the lower dividend paying S&P 500 has increased seven-fold whilst the higher dividend paying FTSE-100 has only doubled, that is probably the simplest refutation of your self-serving claim.

In fact the FTSE-100 has barely increased in 25 years whilst the S&P 500 is up three-fold in that same time period (plus a currency gain). Anyone who has taken your advice has seen a dramatic loss of value. Your obsession with UK high yielding shares whilst ignoring both growth shares and the rest of the planet has been an unmitigated disaster.

We all know you run an unpopular fund with a decidedly patchy record and high expenses, but it does no harm to remind the community that your "advice" here is little more than you trying to talk up your own business without regard to other and better opportunities elsewhere.

Your desire to mash data analysis, for example between capital and TR, makes any discussion with you worthless.

Keep the discussion civil please and refrain from personal attacks.

There is a difference between saying "You are incorrect, and this is why" and "You are incorrect and you are an idiot". The former is acceptable (and encouraged) on this site, the latter is not.
