Well, Ford seem to have upped the ante now. There have been reports that its test passenger-drivers are dozing off, because there's so little for them to do. (Ford disputes that - but, it asks, if your self-driving car had a sudden epileptic fit in heavy traffic, could you snap into action quickly enough to make a difference to the outcome anyway? )
So, starting in four years' time, the self-driving cars won't have steering wheels or brake pedals. I'm not sure I'm ready for that, personally. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-39050538
