Another one.
Already this year we've had three wasps, a peacock and two tortoise-shells break cover and start aviating. Now, another one is flapping around in the S window of the bedroom.
Not untypical; every year many of our hibernators don't seem to have read the script.
It's only 63F in here, and below 40F outside. Does it really want to be let out? Careful what you wish for........
Why can't they stay tucked up until spring, rather than zoom around wasting their finite energy resources.
In the beams, nooks and crannies of our C17 thatched, there are probably dozens of denizens overwintering. But they don't seem very good at it.
