I have no connection with Bond Vigilantes but always like watching their beginning of the week webcast. Food for thought here re outlook post Trump election. Is he really going to send all those Irish workers home and if so that's bad news for Irish unemplyment stats. Is he really going to reduce US Corporation Tax to 15% and allow US Corporations to repatriate their overseas funds for a one-off 10% charge? If so, are all those US companies based in Ireland going to go home - more bad news for Irish unemployment stats.

Is this all looking potentially bad news for BOI (one of my big holdings)??

Periodically such tax events crop up in American politics. Most large American megacorps are simply waiting for the next one. 10% of 100s of billions is realistically better than 40sih% of nothing, so yes, I can well imagine Trump following through on that.

Corporation tax is a race to the bottom - it could not be otherwise, as moving legal headquarters is a couple of bits of paper and an afternoon for some lawyers. Its why McDonalds just moved their non-American HQ to the UK, because the EU started playing short sighted games. Ideology doesn't come into the realities of tax planning; those that don't grasp that get nothing.
