It's perfectly valid. As is the similar answer that points out that one of the names has the same number of letters in first name and surname.

One might think your not accepting that answer is a weakness not of the answer, but of the question. :P

I can't even answer "because I have/haven't heard of [...]", as there are more than one names in each camp.

That's close enough. Chlorine (Cl) is a non-metal whereas all of the others are metals.
