Levis 501s - best source?
When I'm off duty I tend to live in Levis 501s (Black, W34/L32)
I need a new pair and have been somewhat shocked by the prices in High St shops (£75+)
Can anyone suggest a reliable source? I got the last pair from Amazon (from 3rd party seller) and i'm not 100% convinced they were genuine, although the 'real' ones have varied a bit over time as they shift production around the world

I get them from Costco - usually they are £29.99 or £34.99 (+VAT). But it's hit an miss - not always in stock, not always in your size, not always your colour. Plus you have to then factor in the membership.

I've used BuyJeans before without any problems. Always seem to be around £50.

£49 - not bad. Thanks. I will check against Amazon (just realised I have Prime so delivery is flexible/free which makes a difference)
I'm also popping into town to see if there are any sales on (Debenhams seem to charge £75 plus for Levis normally)

Blimy! Next time I see them in Costco I might buy a dozen pairs and stick them on ebay for £45.

Do you know anyone visiting the US? Or can you order them from the US? Much cheaper there. Last time I was there I picked up 4 pairs at a WalMart for maybe about 20 quid each. Should keep me going for a decade or so, unless I change shape drastically . . .

I know several people who live in the US - I suspect Walmart+postage(+hassle/bribes) would get close to the UK cost!

Just been back to check Amazon and I'm sure when I looked earlier they were £51. They seem to be £54.95 now. Dynamic pricing ?!

That's interesting - thanks.
These are they - they went up today !!

May be worth waiting to see if they head back down a few quid before buying (it's not urgent)

A Ruddles County or Jennings Cumberland would be an acceptable alternative to a rec

I have poured a can of Ruddles into the Internet- unplug yr network cable and hold it over a glass.
If it's evaporated in the router you'll have to pop along to the first Lemon Fool London Social when I get round to organising it ...

Re: Levis 501s - best source?
T K Maxx often have Levis - I have couple of pairs (not 501s) which cost about £32.
Matalan sell Wranglers for a similar price. The Wranglers are a far better constructed jean, the Levis are thin and insubstantial by comparison.

I was in Costco yesterday and they were available at £34.99 + VAT, so £41.98 to you and me. Had 3 shades of blue in Manchester

I've seen similar pricing tactics used for flights and hotels before. I.e. you're considering a holiday, and you go and look at flights, input your dates and get an indicative quote. Then do the same for flights. The websites record cookies from your visits.
.... Then perhaps you consider the offers for a few days. The airlines/hotels know how this works....
You go back to buy the flights/hotel, and wham it's all suddenly a lot more expensive, since you're hooked and they're now reeling you in.
[Tip: If you've a suspicion the above is happening, when making the final booking use a computer that it entirely clean of your prior searching/web-activity]
