To the Royal Academy to see this

Just a small exhibition, so then went to Japan centre for a look round before going here
https://www.brasseriezedel.com/crazy-coqs/
for some early evening jazz & cocktails. Pretty good actually
Then supper here at Bubala
https://bubala.co.uk/soho/
Which is an amazing vegetarian / vegan restaurant, packed full of glamorous thirty-somethings shrieking at the tops of their voices. My wife was the next youngest at 67, everyone else in our party older. Where do all the sixty somethings go?
Fantastic food: set menu for £40 a head – really very reasonable and delicious (although a bit salty!). Anyone else been?
Went downstairs to the gents. Couldn’t find it. Only a room saying “washrooms” which was full of a bunch of scantily dressed screeching girls all combing each other’s hair.
“Umm, sorry to bother you, do you know where the gents is?”
“It’s unisex love. Help yourself”, says one of them, pointing to one of only two cubicles.
“I’ve left the seat down” I say on departure. Cue more hysterical shrieking
Great night out. Bit tired now

Re: Evening out in London
Been to Zedel, wasn't a fan of the food and Bubala(yiddish for darling) good fun and easy eating. Yes, this type of food is notoriously salty.
Where do all the 60 somethings go to you ask....we are dying off or have difficulty lasting out for three hours without having a fairly decent bog nearby, without having to go downstairs three times, but our breed can be still found at Wiltons

Re: Evening out in London
Yep..Jermyn St. Possibly my fav when I visit the UK. If you haven't ever been there, just book it, as I know you are a foodie. British, Traditional, old school, service and class. Their lunchtime menu, I don't think, can be beat. From memory, (was there last in July/Aug) 39.95 for two courses, 10 pounds more for three courses. Take a look at their set Monday to Friday menu, which changes daily, and don't miss their bread pud! Think they just celebrated 287 years or something ridiculous. Not cheap in the evenings,(Saturday evening's Beef Wellington)but for this type of establishment, and for good food, it's all relative.
Bentley's for oysters, Yes. Particularly when the weather is nice outside.
For a special treat. Tea at the Corinthia Hotel and Kerridges within, tried their fish and chips which was excellent.
Ah, just found some links. Read the history re Wilton's, the part where he says, just put the restaurant on the bill!
Best to you Bran and happy eating.

Not a huge fan of British and/or Traditional: both a bit of an anathema to me to be honest. I think both words are massively overrated, but the lunchtime menu sounds like a very good deal. I am very tempted to try Wiltons on your recommendation so it's lunch for me. Thanks
By the way, the Dover Sole Meuniere at Bentleys is second to none, especially in good weather, sitting outside, with a glass of fizz, although the large delivery trucks backing up to within an inch of your irish soda bread & anchovy butter can be a bit off-putting.

Re: Evening out in London
My goodness, I guess Covid did some major damage as just checked and many have closed. What a shame, as had some good meals in quite a few of those establishments. They come and go though.
