Precision fermentation is an interesting technology that seems to be coming to the market in increasing scale. The idea is to use genetically engineered yeast to create proteins from sugar, the proteins available mimic products from the meat & dairy industries.

There are some bullish articles suggesting compound annual growth over 40% for precision fermentation products

An alternative to these products are soya based products such as produced by Beyond Meat.
Folk in the precision fermentation industry say that their products are now competitive with farmed food whereas products from plant based sources such as Soya are more expensive due to the cost of the vegetable crops.
Does anyone have information on whether the claims for precision fermentation are credible or marketing baloney?
