Ultra-small pub quiz.
Regarding the image below, can anyone guess...
For one point:
what it depicts,
for two points:
its location,
and for three points:
its significance?
Multiple guesses allowed. Quiz ends when someone gets 6 points (or I lose patience).

I'll start for (hopefully) one point.
The track of a light aircraft trip you have undertaken.

It's the Google trail from the little bastards who stole my mountain bike. Or it's the Nurburgring, re-engineered for skateboards. Or maybe just me coming home from the pub.

So now you know what some people do with their time, instead of clocking up thousands of hours on TLF.

Re: Ultra-small pub quiz.
Well the img link is a giveaway (ukpilot.uk) so it's a flight path of some sort. Top LHS is point of departure and return, bottom RHS another landing/departure and in the middle a circuit and another landing/departure? So a QXC flight maybe? Where, no idea.

Yeah, I thought that too from the link initially, although there are some very obtuse changes of direction in it. Maybe a helicopter?

Re: Ultra-small pub quiz.
My guess is that it is a flight with two away landings, one a controlled approach of some kind. The portion coloured green makes me think that it was part IFR, part VFR (in green).
Locations possible Rochester bottom right, somewhere like Cranfield top left and maybe North Weald top right. I think that the breaks in the track are not landings.

And the top line turns green for a bit, while all the rest is yellow. Apart from an orangey section around the figure of eight. I can't think of anything except altitude that might have signified that.
I'm still puzzling over the squiggly corners, rather as if somebody was passing through a stile. Handheld launch of a grounded drone, possibly?
Great quiz, Chris!

Re: Ultra-small pub quiz.
Maybe the significance is that it's a tour of locations in Kent that were significant in the Battle of Britain - Biggin Hill top left?

1 Point. It was all one flight though, but top LHS is indeed the point of departure and landing.mc2fool wrote:moorfield wrote:Well the img link is a giveaway (ukpilot.uk) so it's a flight path of some sort. Re: Ultra-small pub quiz.
Solid point there Terry. Big clue: Rochester is inside the major loop somewhere. Flight mainly IFR (main exception the squiggly bit nearish the bottom). Yes the breaks were poor radio coverage.tjh290633 wrote:My guess is that it is a flight with two away landings, one a controlled approach of some kind. Re: Ultra-small pub quiz.
Thank you. Yes the colour is linked to altitude. Orange low, yellow higher, green higher still. OK, but are the very pointy changes in direction 'cos it's a helicopter/quadcopter/similar or are they just artefacts of the plotting tech? Or something else altogether...?

No, but what an interesting concept! I've seen flight path art before. C.chas49 wrote:Strava running track?

Not a bad guess, sadly not the answer though. Kent is more in the right ball-park though.Hallucigenia wrote:Maybe the significance is that it's a tour of locations in Kent that were significant in the Battle of Britain - Biggin Hill top left?
