*UPDATED* New Rules about use of Artifical Intelligence and about Bots

#681533

Postby Clariman » August 28th, 2024, 12:09 pm

With the increasing usage of Artificial Intelligence by both human beings and bots, TLF has introduced some new rules for the user of AI on the site. They are as follows:

  • Automated or Artificial Intelligence (AI) generated posts which are deemed likely to be created by bots will be removed and accounts will be closed
  • Human users may not post content that is entirely AI generated. Any such posts may be deleted
  • Human users may post content that is enhanced using AI. This may be useful, for example, for those who have language usage issues. However, the use of AI must always be disclosed. If not disclosed, posts identified as containing AI may be deleted.”

What this means is that any user who the moderation/admin team believe to be a bot, irrespective of whether they post AI content or not, will have their account removed. This will be based on an assessment of their posting content, style, registration details, IP addresses etc.

Posts that are entirely AI are not acceptable because they currently bring no value to the site. However, where a genuine user has used some AI to improve their post (e.g. readability, interest, correct English etc.) this is acceptable PROVIDING that they disclose the use of AI in the post. If it is not disclosed we may delete it. We have enabled this for those who might find it helpful. For other users, please do not see this as a challenge to test out the moderation team to see what level of AI you can get away with.

**Update**
I forgot to add a note on how we handle potential bots. Firstly, the moderation team would like to thank Fools for reporting potential bot posts. Your reports will be read and actioned, but that may not be immediately visible to you. We keep a record of potential bots (AI or otherwise) and monitor behaviour until such time we are confident that a user is a bot, when the account will be closed. That activity behind the scenes will not be evident to you.

Many thanks
Stooz and Clariman
