A 2021 Committee - Devolution of Views & Expression

#466945

Postby AsleepInYorkshire » December 17th, 2021, 11:57 pm

We need a Prime Fool.

Elected.

A representative of the community. The back benchers spokesperson.

This isn't insurrection or revolution. It's balance.

Why?

Because we need to evolve. I genuinely believe we have a great community. I also believe that an elected Prime Fool providing feedback to Clariman and the moderators, regarding change, will be a significant, nay excellent, source of information. Constructive and positive.

I know we have an open board for suggestions. Some Fools don't post though. They remain silent. If we had a Prime Fool who they could contact they would have a voice. And that voice, no matter how small could be talking more sense than the rest of us put together.

I hasten to add this isn't a side swipe at anyone - this site is well run and the hosts are genuinely committed. We are fortunate to have a fantastic team of volunteer moderators and members. Some of the financial posts are incredible. We have the wisdom on Solomon on these boards. I'm not blowing smoke up your buttocks neither. We've got something here.

Just sayin' :)

On what basis should the PF be elected? First Past The Post? Single Transferable Vote? One for the UK or one per nation?

That should draw in some comments from the usual suspects

Or perhaps we should work it out more diplomatically ...

1 ) Size of military
2 ) Amount of bribes given
3 ) Narcissistic corruption
4 ) Semantic and euphemistic arguments
5 ) Use of incredibly good words that we all need to Google
6 ) Ability to tolerate - great amounts of alcohol

Have a great Christmas Kiloran. Keep warm ,safe and well. Oh ... and make sure you give your family plenty of hugs and support ... which is like saying to Superman, as Captain Obvious, protect the world.

I know this much ... I know who the usual suspects will be when it comes to offering a kind word, positive support and constructive advice. Those Fools make this forum warm, pleasant and inviting.

With the greatest humility I'd like to offer an opinion please. Kiloran is a kind and supportive member of TLF and I am grateful for the efforts he has devoted to our community. By the way Kiloran that's you buddy :)

I have learned so much from your posts. They have helped me enormously.

Take care

Alone his (and Itsallaguess's) efforts in producing and maintaining the HYP Top-up spreadsheet makes him one of my super-Fools. C.

I think that any postulant should publish his manifesto. How does he think our discussions should be directed? How tolerant should we be of dissenters? If there are multiple persons vying for election, should we have elimination rounds of voting, a bit like Strictly?

The people's views must be heard.

"postulant"

Great word (especially in a pandemic). :)

If there is demand for this, I am up fordiscussing it with the Mods and Stooz. However, the Admins and Mods are all ordinary users too, so I'm not sure of its value.

Moderator Message:
There has been a bit of light-hearted banter in this topic, which is fine. However, we would prefer this Suggestions board to be more focussed on presenting and/or discussing the merits of a proposal. If you want more light-hearted chat about a suggestion then Room 102 would be more appropriate. I'm not planning to delete any of the existing posts but please bear this in mind. Thanks, Clariman
