Premium Bonds: e-mail: You've just won! Delays

I don't know this is going to make any difference to what NS&I do (but you can't get through to them anyway at the moment) but it might just, and it might make me feel a teeny bit better

There are ways of finding out if you've won anything in the monthly Premium Bond draw
NS&I also offer an e-mail update "You've just won!", if subscribed. This e-mail is often delayed, or probably sent out phased, so it doesn't swamp the mail servers etc.
This month (Sept 2020), the e-mail
was sent: Thu, 03 Sep 2020 05:32:20
was received: Sat, 05 Sep 2020 05:29:59
Pretty close to 48 hours.
I check two NS&I accounts with Premium Bonds that both got prizes and e-mails (separate e-mail addresses) this month, and both had the same timings (one arrived an hour later than the other).

The e-mail headers suggest it was held at mta6589.mxmfb.com

Received: from mta6589.mxmfb.com ([109.68.65.89])
by [servername deleted].co.uk with esmtps (TLS1.2) tls TLS_ECDHE_RSA_WITH_AES_256_GCM_SHA384

for [e-mail address deleted]; Sat, 05 Sep 2020 05:29:59 +0100

Frankly, 48 hours is worse than useless (esp given the other channels are instant). NS&I may as well dump e-mail alerts unles they're going to make them a bit quicker.

Thanks for the two replies.
Hmmmm..... I wonder if it's my mail host taking a dislike to a mail relay that it sees as sending bulk e-mails.
Think I might change the registered e-mail address for next month's draw and see what happens.

Merely to add to the other two replies. Mine was:

Sent Date: Thu, 03 Sep 2020 05:31:56 which is as close as matters to yours.

Received Fri, 4 Sep 2020 18:23:13 so some considerable delay.

Good luck with using your alternative email address but, like others, I use the aforementioned https://www.nsandi.com/prize-checker and the email is only a back up if I've forgotten to look or I haven't spotted this thread's updates which are another reminder (usually thanks to Bouleeversee).

Thanks. Interesting to get another fix on timings (that it's not just me!). And I concur with everything you've said.
By coincidence, this morning I've had two e-mail updates for two different accounts from NS&I (for ILSC annual statements, that had their mid-term annual anniversary over the w/e, and NS&I usually don't send these e-mails over the w/e but wait until Monday night) which were both sent at 01:02 and delivered at 01:15 and 01:18.

I made two errors in my reply, neither of which are important. I misspelt Bouleversee and thought we were on the lengthy Premium Bonds thread which is also on this board. Thus my my mention of this thread's updates which are another reminder.

I have new posts on 'Bank Accounts Savings & ISAs' set up via Notifications such that I see when that thread is updated. You probably know this option but I mention it in passing.
