And it's easy access but not sure it's available to new customers. Chip (whoever they are) are paying 3.4% easy access. Not bad.

Deposits are protected in ClearBank. Chip isn't a bank, but has partnered with ClearBank to offer its 3.4% instant-access account, so once your money's in there, it has the usual £85,000 UK savings safety protection. So if Chip or ClearBank went bust, you'd get your money back (though it may take longer than if you had a direct relationship with the bank).
