In the event of an independent Scotland, what would happen to premium bond holdings of Scottish people ?

Scottish nationals would not be permitted to take part in many things after independence. The premium bonds prize draw is but one of the many. They would almost definitely have their bond money refunded.

Last time round it was said that they (we) could keep their PBs and other NS&I stuff, but would need a UK bank account for the income to be paid into. And would probably not be able to add more money to them.

I don't think it's well-defined at the moment, as are many things.

Scott.

From the NS&I website, they seem happy to accept anyone, regardless of where they live, providing that they hold a UK bank account, and have satisfied themselves that their local laws allow premium bonds to be bought.

But not as insulting as 0.1%. Or even less than that.

And sweet F.A. (that's Fanny Adams) for me with a full holding.

I seem to remember you and Mrs Didds did rather well last month as well. Not fair. When did you buy your bonds, as a matter of interest?

£25 for me and a first ever prize of £50 for my wife, after convincing her to put some non-earning cash savings into Premium Bonds a few months back, and since then not winning a darned cent...

The monthly look of disappointment was getting so bad, and especially when my token prizes kept rolling in, that I was almost ready to subsidise a completely fake prize just to save me some face, so the £50 she's won yesterday has come at just the right time....

Cheers,

Itsallaguess

2x £25 for me.

I bought £15k last October, having held just a few hundred pounds worth until then. After nothing for several months, I had one £25 prize last month and now the two this month.

The law of averages suggests that's it for a while now...

A solitary £25 from 2 full holdings this month, bringing our average down towards the expected return...

When do the emails for the little winners arrive ? I haven't had one yet, and I'm due a prize :-)
I know I could check online but like to retain a bit of hope...

OT: My first thought was, nah, he must have heard that saying before, he's just being I dunno what ... but then I realised that while I've known the phrase pretty much my whole life, I had no idea where it came from. So a quick google and ...

I wish I hadn't read that while I was half-way through my supper. Quite put me off. I had no idea of that background; weird that it came to be used in the way I used it. I'm a she, not a he, b.t.w.

Nothing to do with Premium Bonds but it is quite instructive for our prejudices not to actually know the sex, gender, colour and so on of those who are contributing.
