Well, I've won £100 (4 x £25) on max holding. So there! :D

Total winnings for the year amount to a 'simple interest' return of 1.35%.
Still seen nobody beat my eight £25 prizes in February 2019! That year amounted to a 'simple interest' return of 1.7%.

1 x £25 for me and 2 x £25 for Mrs L (both on max holdings) so I guess that with the reduced odds this month that's slightly better than average.

Today's winnings brings us two on a return of 1.4% exactly for 2020. Getting close(ish) to maxed both, reinvested.

And as you might guess, Mrs has had a better year, yet again! I keep telling her that I am keeping my powder dry for the big one...It is a dead cert, but I might not live long enough, as it would take serious scientific progress and I might get bored after all living for millennia(also having serious doubts that our planet will make it that long in an habitable fashion anyway, the way we are trashing it as a species...)!

So pretty much bang on expectations at 1.4% for the year, a rare event looking at our last twenty odd years for which I have our PBs records, showing 2.16% overall yearly rate of return over the period(did not bother before that). Still a poor return overall, and way below inflation overall of course, but, like many I suspect seen as 'safely parked near enough cash', relatively easy access if needed, plus the 'flutter' element.

Good job our stock market and business investments did better, but hardly a challenge to better PBs if you are prepared for the 'uneven' ride.

RoY - year
1.98% - 2019
2.02% - 2018
1.43% - 2017
0.83% - 2016
1.68% - 2015
1.28% - 2014

This year has been dismal- looking at 0.58% unless I've won something this month
(Holding as of today c£12,800 all prizes reinvested)

4 family maximum holdings, all bought early this Summer.

Every one a winner in December, however that was made up of 3 £25 and 1 £50, which has been the smallest amount of total family monthly winnings to date, so the reduction in prize payouts appears to have correlated in this particular month.

This month was the first eligible for prizes since I upped my holding from a low three figure sum (which netted me 2x £25 over about four years) to just over £15k.

Needless to say, my anticipation of huge prizes, well, any prize actually, was misplaced...

Roll on 1st January for my first big win :D

Top news!

2 wins... £25 and .... (drum roll) ... £500! - on max holding
and Mrs didds won £25 on 25K. That's been upped considerably recently so her holding in effect is "up" next month (albeit lower payouts etc etc of course)

£500? Splendid!
That'll pay for Christmas. Which has been cancelled this year in case you missed the memo.

Ermm..have you ever considered attending a Lemon Fool London Social?

Just done some quick sums on four family holding that I look after.

Figures show 2016 and later, after the last/most recent limit rise (June 2015) in the permitted max holding and the last change to any of the holdings.
Holder E's prizes skewed (in a nice way) by two £1k prizes in 2016
I can't beat XFool's 8 prizes in one month: that's impressive!
2020 was overall an average year (1.3%), the same average figure for all holdings over the 5 years noted
I can't see any difference in age of holding, or batches of numbers; based on the above, the best return is buy and hold for a long time.

£50 on max.

How do I get my holder number to be remembered on this new site as it was on the old one?

They say I won nothing on 15k this month, but I don't believe them.

There are thousands of illegally drawn numbers for cashed in or misprinted bonds that should be discounted and once that has been taken into account it will become clear that I have won.

1 x £50 prize on a £25K holding. At least this year starts with a glimmer of light.

Just out of curiosity I did a quick back of fag packet summary by year purchased of this month's (Jan 2021) winners from https://www.nsandi.com/prize-checker/winners. Just an illustration, no conclusions drawn by me, and it would certainly have to be adjusted for the number of bonds in circulation for the purchase year.

https://www.aish.com/atr/Effort_versus_ ... n_God.html

“I heard a joke about a man who wants to win the lottery. Each week he prays to win, and after many weeks go by, he finally complains to God, "Why haven't I won?" Replies God, "You should have bought a ticket."

“Though of course, don't go out and buy a whole stack of tickets. Because if God wants you to win, one ticket should be enough.”
