BlackRock Inc. has suspended withdrawal requests from investors in its £3.5 billion ($4.2 billion) UK property fund, in a move that highlights the sector’s ongoing challenges when markets are volatile.

Don't use open ended funds to hold illiquid assets.

Or don't hold open ended funds period- I much prefer ITs, market noise does not determine investments it makes and their timing. (Unless leveraged and banking circumstances change, however as money never gets borrowed that is repayable on demand there is always plenty of time for the IT to plan ahead rather than merely react to panic driven holders trying to cash in their holdings)
