TV licence increase
Just noticed the TV licence has gone from £13.37 to £13.43 on bank statement.
Don't think I got notification of the increase.
With the BBC's obvious serious concern with the cost of living crisis, I wonder why they didn't freeze the monthly cost or reduce it, to do their bit for the population struggling with rising costs.

Well, as the current annual licence fee is £159 and 159/12 = 13.25 exactly, I can't help!

Re: TV licence increase
BBC don't get better value than that. We only have the BBC channels plus Talking Pictures enabled on our TVs, makes life much more enjoyable.

Thanks for that. Well that's what the statement says.
I'll check with our branch.

And it will go down again to £13.37 next month, just as it did last year.
The licence fee is unchanged but the pay-monthly schedule is strange 'cos you actually pay six months in advance, and they introduce "jiggles" to get the grand total to the correct sum. It's been that way for a looooong time.
E.g. this year mine was/is £13.37 Jan & Feb, £13.43 Mar, £13.37 Apr-Aug, £12.47 Sep then £13.25 thereafter. I expect if you log into http://www.tvlicensing.co.uk yours will be much the same (albeit in different months). Look under Update your details then view your payment plan once you've logged in.

Thanks mc2fool, that explains it.

Here's my history of the annual amounts of the TV licence.
Methods other than annual may attract a charge, it seems e.g. https://www.tvlicensing.co.uk/pay-for-your-tv-licence/ways-to-pay/direct-debit says: "Unlike other payment methods, with quarterly payments you don’t pay for any of your licence upfront. As a result, each quarterly payment includes a £1.25 charge"

No, it's not methods other than annual. It's just quarterly payments. There's no charge for monthly payments, which is what the OP has.

Ok if monthly is £13.25
why was there sequence of
"£13.37 Jan & Feb, £13.43 Mar, £13.37 Apr-Aug, £12.47 Sep then £13.25 thereafter."

Monthly isn't £13.25. Monthly is "around £13.25" https://www.tvlicensing.co.uk/pay-for-your-tv-licence/ways-to-pay.
There were similar variations last year (10*£13.37 + £13.43 + £11.87 = £159). As I put it earlier:

If you want an explanation as to why they do it that way, ask TV Licensing!

Re: TV licence increase
I know a way of saving £13.25 a month
Looking like the license is unlikely to survive according to the news.
I regularly don't renew and wish there was an occasional monthly option
