https://in.mobile.reuters.com/article/amp/idUSKCN26F2RZ

"A consortium of German insurer Allianz (ALVG.DE) and life insurer Athora Holding is in advanced talks to buy Aviva's (AV.L) French operations in a deal worth between 2 and 3 billion euros ($2.3-$3.5 billion), sources close to the matter said."

And, of course

Do you know why Aviva has underperformed against the market this year? Is it because the insurance industry is in contraction because of the Covid correction? Would you see it as a value buy?

That, and the costs of having to pay out on ‘business interruption’ clauses.

A large factor with all financials is that they hold huge amounts of corporate bonds to back up liabilities and there is the worry of CV causing insolvencies and so hitting the value of those bonds in the future.

Aviva has not done as badly as some other stocks. I hold some.

The Investors Chronicle rated it as a buy this week after 2 years a sell. The article discusses Aviva's underperformance over the years, strategy, number of CEOs ( although one resigned for family health reasons), surpluses, CEO's skin in the game ( £1m recent share buy), breakup value v share price, return of a dividend ( nod to the PRA), solvency levels.
