That's what I think too from here.
https://www.londonstockexchange.com/new ... g/15398620
the proposed final dividend for 2021, which is to be put to Shareholders at the Company's 2022 annual general meeting, is 14.70 pence per existing ordinary share in the Company, payable on or around 19 May 2022 to Shareholders named on the Company's register of members as at the close of business on Friday 8 April 2022;
Under the expected timetable of events, Shareholders and holders of ADSs will be sent electronic payments in line with their current bank mandate (or, in the case of ADS Holders, cheques) or, if Shareholders hold their existing ordinary shares in CREST, will have their CREST account credited by Tuesday 31 May 2022 in respect of the existing ordinary shares;

Re: What to do with Aviva return?
I was thinking about simply reinvesting back into Aviva but in recent weeks I've wavered about deploying funds into other areas (passing reference: certain "growth "ITs) so I might now reinvest, perhaps, 50% back into perennial under achiever Aviva.
On reflection, I found myself using the words" perennial under achiever".... maybe I need to reflect some more and stop banging my head against the wall as it is quite nice when I stop !

I stoically fire up my spreadsheet and let it tell me what to do with any received funds. Boring but somehow soothing. C.

I use HYPTUSS but usually its first picks are not mine.
I've just updated and the top 5 are
International Personal Finance - too small
ITV poor dividend history
Provident Financial ditto
British American Tobacco - worth a look
MicroFocus poor perhaps recovering dividend history.

No, the timetable said 'by 31st May' but it would be earlier if all went according to plan. It must have gone to plan as the payment date is now 19th May.
per HL today
Over the next week you’ll see a number of changes to the Aviva shares you hold in your HL account.
• On 16 May, the number of Aviva shares you own will drop
• On 19 May, you’ll get a one-off payment, called a return of capital, from Aviva.

From the circular:
The timetable still only says "By Tuesday 31 May 2022 - Redemption payment settlement date for B shares" though.
The Company expects to redeem the B Shares on or around Tuesday 17 May 2022 and for the proceeds to be paid to Shareholders
no later than 10 Business Days after the Redemption Date.

I downloaded the Circular from https://www.aviva.com/investors/circular/
On page 6, in the 'EXPECTED TIMETABLE OF PRINCIPAL EVENTS' section, it says:-
"Admission Date 8am on Monday 16 May 2022
New Ordinary Shares admitted to the Official List and to trading on the
London Stock Exchange
8am on Monday 16 May 2022
B Shares issued equal to number of Existing Ordinary Shares held at the
Record Time
8am on Monday 16 May 2022
CREST accounts credited with New Ordinary Shares Monday 16 May 2022
Expected Redemption Date Tuesday 17 May 2022
Expected redemption and cancellation of B Shares Tuesday 17 May 2022
Despatch of payments and CREST accounts credited in respect of
proceeds, if B Shares redeemed on 17 May
by Thursday 19 May 2022
Despatch of share certificates in respect of New Ordinary Shares by Friday 27 May 2022Despatch of payments and CREST accounts credited in respect of
proceeds from sale of fractional entitlements arising as a result of the
Share Consolidation
by Tuesday 31 May 2022"
So the payment is 'by Thursday 19 May 2022'

Re: What to do with Aviva return?
According to the Aviva's ROC Circular the dividend is going up to about 31p per new share in FY22 from 22.05p per old share in FY21. So the total dividend received from the (24% reduced) new shares will increase by about 6.8% compared to last year. I'm tempted to put a little of the capital return back into Aviva but not all of it because the dividend weighting of my holding would get too big.

Interestingly my HYPTUSS put Aviva high up in the top up order, but it put LLoyds Banking Group higher, so I've just topped up my LLOY holding.

I wish you good fortune with your top-up. I can understand the attraction to a semi-automated system but Lloyds has been such an underperformer in my pf that when I'm next looking to move shares from my unsheltered account to an ISA, Lloyds will be for the chop and something else will be purchased. Looking at my records I can see that I bought chunks in 2016 and 2018, giving an IRR of -2.5%

That is interesting as it would suggest that the businesses sold were not contributing much in the way of profit which of course makes perfect sense.
