On 7 September 2021 United announced that it had entered into a binding sale and purchase agreement (SPA) with Quattro Energy Limited (Quattro) to sell its UK Central North Sea Licences; P2480 and P2519 for a consideration of up to £3.2m (c $4.4m). Completion of the sale was conditional on receipt of approval from the Oil and Gas Authority (OGA) and Quattro completing a fundraising process. In December 2021 United announced that the long stop date for satisfaction of the SPA conditions was extended to 28 February 2022. Although OGA approval was received, Quattro did not complete a fundraising process by this date. United has decided to terminate the SPA with Quattro.

So it's been a quiet day in the oil patch, with Brent spiking to 139.13 before dropping to 119.04 and currently $124.50 - fortunes will have been made and lost today. Nymex gas is $4.91.

I've been a bit distracted by all the excitement, but also fixing that thing last week has allowed me to start doing other things to the bot. The plan is to restore some of the other features that have been broken by changes on the websites I use, but as a first step I wanted to make a dedicated function for processing TR-1 shareholding forms, which IIRC only came in just as the bot's first incarnation was coming to an end and which I had been processing manually in effect. Wrote a function that worked on the one I'd been testing, then took another one at random - didn't work, used a different format. Made a more general function to accommodate that version, then the very next one I look at is in a different format again. Gah - you could at least have let me have one work!!! So a work in progress then... More seriously, why the heck in this day and age this stuff can't be formatted and tagged in some kind of format that is easily machine-readable, I don't know.

The Company wishes to clarify that the Sale and Purchase Agreement ("SPA"), earlier announced on the 25 February 2022, deals with the acquisition of the entire share capital of MPNU's shareholders, Mobil Development Nigeria Inc. and Mobil Exploration Nigeria Inc., being entities of Exxon Mobil Corporation registered in Delaware ("ExxonMobil"). bp and Eni confirmed today that they have signed an agreement to form a new 50/50 independent company, Azule Energy, a bp and Eni company, through the combination of the two companies' Angolan businesses. The agreement follows the memorandum of understanding between the companies agreed in May 2021.
Azule Energy will be a new international energy company, independently managed, with more than 200,000 barrels equivalent a day (boe/d) of net oil and gas production and two billion barrels equivalent of net resources. It is expected to be Angola's largest producer, holding stakes in 16 licences, as well as participating in the Angola LNG joint venture. Azule Energy will also take over Eni's stake in Solenova, a solar company jointly held with Sonangol.

has executed a new gas sales agreement ("GSA") with BP Gas Marketing Limited ("BPGM"). This covers its equity gas from all of the Saturn Banks Phase 1 fields (Blythe, Elgood, Southwark), plus the Nailsworth and Elland fields which are part of Phase 2, on a long-term basis with break clauses after September 2023. The GSA replaces the gas sales agreement originally signed with BPGM in February 2014, which covered the Blythe field only, on improved terms for the Company. Under this GSA, gas will be sold on a day-ahead daily nomination basis at a price linked to the National Balancing Point (NBP, the UK traded gas benchmark). The GSA incorporates the potential, subject to credit approval, for physical gas hedging up to 50% of forecast production over various periods, in line with the Company's hedging strategy.
Resumption of Southwark drilling therefore remains targeted for later this month, potentially moving to mid-April due to the interplay of logistical factors and tidal conditions. On that basis, Southwark First Gas currently remains targeted for Q3 2022.

Another "might as well post it since I've run it for testing purposes" covering Friday after the open - I've now got some code to look up prices for companies subject to Price Monitoring Extensions (PMEs) to see if anything interesting has happened by comparing any moves to the standard deviation of moves over the last year. Doesn't cope particularly well with some of the crazy movers like Borders & Southern (average daily move 7%, standard deviation 12%) but picks up on the quiet ones like Zephyr's move last week. But who would have thought that BP would have a PME in my test data, even if a rise of 2.1% is not much more than the average 1.6% move? As a result of having the code to look for the price changes, I've stopped posting 2nd PMEs unless someone's interested? The price analysis code can also be used for other purposes, I've a few ideas on that front...

Finally, significant mud gas peaks were detected across all target sequences in the Nanushuk, with marked increases in the heavier carbon compounds (C2-C5) observed in each...we look forward to results from the pending wireline program, which is set to be conducted over the next 7 to 10 days.

Gah, of course there isn't, I've just realised that my TTF source must be quoting it in MMBtu rather than MWh (and looking more closely, it's in USD rather than €). And I got my USD/GBP conversion the wrong way round on NBP. The perils of rushing out automated results cos I couldn't be bothered to do it manually, all before coffee...

Testing of the Lower Basin Floor Fan ("LBFF") at the Theta West #1 location has commenced with the well flowing high quality oil to surface which the Company believes supports, and likely exceeds, its pre-drill resource estimates of 1.2 billion barrels of oil (recoverable). As with previous testing operations on the North Slope, the primary objectives of the LBFF test was (a) to confirm oil quality, (b) to confirm oil movability, and (c) to confirm reservoir deliverability. All of these objectives were successfully achieved in this initial testing operation. The Company has now suspended testing of the LBFF formation due to the onset of a severe storm in the area....After the initial encouraging oil flow rates, the Theta West #1 well was shut in due to the arrival of the storm. The well flowed high quality, light 35.5-38.5 degree API gravity oil at rates that averaged over 57 barrels of oil per day ("BOPD") with peak rates exceeding 100 BOPD over 2.5 days. Over the final day prior to shut-in the well was averaging approximately 59 BOPD. Significantly, this rate meets the Company's pre-drill expectations, confirms the presence, quality, and mobility of light sweet crude oil....we have collected enough data to confirm our expectations that we have discovered, and now appraised, an extensive resource which we believe meets or exceeds our pre-drill estimates."

Following 2020, our year of stabilisation, 2021 was a year of delivery for the Company. The team's relentless hard work resulted, in spite of the challenges raised by the global Covid pandemic, in the achievement of a number of key milestones for the business and the commencement of our strategic shift to a production focused energy transition business. This delivery has advanced the prospect of gas sales and revenues from our Phase 1 micro-LNG (mLNG) development in Morocco while, at the same time, establishing the large-scale Phase 2 development.
The Phase 1 project made significant strides forward in 2021 with a Gas Sales Agreement (GSA) announced earlier in the year and a financing package completed at year end. This financing will cover the cost of bringing this development to market. In parallel, we have materially advanced the Phase 2 development securing a binding GSA with Office National de l'Electricite et de l'Eau potable (ONEE), a vital step which provided certainty on gas sales pricing and offtake from the pipeline development to unlock the financing stage of the development process. The value of these strategically pivotal developments to Sound shareholders was further enhanced by our entry into a sale and purchase agreement with Schlumberger Holdings II Limited which resulted in Sound increasing its participating interests in the Tendrara Concession, along with the Anoual and Greater Tendrara exploration permits, from 47.5% to 75%. Finally, Sound secured an extension to the term of the Anoual Permit, which covers the Tendrara concession, from eight to nine years.
The profit for the year before tax from continuing operations was £2.4 million (2020: £18.8 million loss). Reversal of impairment of development assets of £4.0 million (2020: £9.8 million impairment loss) related to the TE-5 Horst production concession following revision to forecast assumptions, primarily higher forward Brent price and gas price assumption in line with long-term market price forecast as at 31 December 2021 compared to the position as at 31 December 2020. Administrative costs at £1.7 million were 42% lower than 2020 administration costs (£2.9 million) due to continued focus on cost reduction.

RDIL has been sold to funds managed by Foresight Group LLP ("Foresight"), for £9.75 million, with a call option for Altalto to re-purchase RDIL within three years ("Call Option"). The Call Option will require Altalto, and any new project partners, to pay up to £12.95 million in aggregate over the option period (the majority of which relates to a final payment in the event of exercise of the Call Option).

The report, the presentation and the webcast of the event are available at totalenergies.com...With a target of a 40% reduction in net Scope 1+2 emissions by 2030 compared to 2015, TotalEnergies is in line with the commitments made by countries with a net zero pledge by 2050, including the European Union with its "Fit for 55" package. Transition Pathway Initiative (TPI) assessed TotalEnergies “as one of three O&G firms that have set emissions reduction targets that are ambitious enough to reach net zero by 2050 and to align with TPI's 1.5°C benchmark”. TotalEnergies wants to go even further and is expanding its ambition with an ambitious new objective: TotalEnergies will reduce emissions related to sales of petroleum products (Scope 3 Oil) by more than 30% from 2015 level by 2030. TotalEnergies is also expanding its ambition with targets to reduce methane emissions (50% from 2020 levels by 2025 and 80% from 2020 levels by 2030) to move towards zero methane.
This ambition is backed by a clear, disciplined investment policy: over the 2022-2025 period, 50% to the investments will be dedicated to growth of energies supply: 30% in the development of decarbonized energies, including 25% for renewables and electricity and 5% for new decarbonized molecules (biofuels, biogas, H2, e-fuels), and 20% for further development in gas, mainly LNG, energy of the transition to replace coal in electricity production. The other half of investments will be dedicated to maintaining and adapt the existing capacities of the worldwide upstream and downstream oil and gas facilities of TotalEnergies: 30% dedicated to maintenance and 20% dedicated to new low-cost, low-emission fields and exploration to fight against the natural decline of the fields and maintain oil production.
Lastly, TotalEnergies describes, for the first time, its vision of a net zero TotalEnergies in 2050, together with society, a Company that produces 50% of renewable electricity, 25% of new decarbonized molecules from biomass (biofuels, biogas) or renewable electricity (hydrogen, e-fuels) and 25% of hydrocarbons (oil and gas), whose residual Scope 3 emissions from its customers of about 100 MtCO2e will be fully captured, recycled or offset.
