I'm looking at IHT400 and its associated schedules. One thing is not clear to me; do I need to submit an IHT409 regarding a SIPP when there is no 'binding nomination' only an 'Expression of Wish to the Trustees on the SIPP platform'?
Either the HMRC notes are very hazy or my brain is fading?!

You do; it is the answers to the questions in it that let HMRC know that there is nothing to look at.

it would be unusual not to see an IHT409 completed for a chargeable estate.
