It's the best of the stronger Fuller's beers, in my view.

The 4 for 6 is a general thing for the Asahi London/Brighton division (Fullers/Dark Star).

It's also the time of year when Fuller's Vintage appears in Waitrose, so worth keeping an eye out for that, although mine had sold out when I looked.

FWIW, Ocado have Black Cab and Lancer, Waitrose have Vintage and Old Winter Ale.

I'd be interested to hear if anyone keeps the Vintage Ale for a length of time, say a year or more, and what effect it has on the flavour.

Dammit, my local Waitrose has no Guinness of any sort in the store, and no alcohol-free beers whatsoever. Nor any shelf space on which they might normally be stocked. Clearly, this is how they intend it to be! :(

A thousand cans of lager, though. And a whole aisle of crisps and stuff. Sometimes I wonder why they ever bothered setting up shop in our town at all?

Pleased to see my local-ish Waitrose (Caversham) stocks Dark Star Hophead now

1845 is £1-80 in Sainsbury's , so pretty reasonable. Better than paying typically £5.10 for bitter in the Fuller's pub at the station, when better is available for ~£1 less in the Fox & Hounds...

You can get an idea from some of these vertical tastings - most noticeably they lose bitterness and some of the complex sugars :

You may be able to answer the question directly, as from what I can tell, many Waitroses have received batches of the 2020 Vintage this year, I tried one two weeks ago and they'd been cleaned out but I tried another one last week and they had some - I imagine 2020 sold badly due to lockdown, so they're trying to clear it before stocking the 2021. I pick up one or more each year with the intention of doing a vertical some day....

I had my booster jab today, venue was opposite our local Waitrose. Popped in to see if they had Vintage Ale. Unfortunately not, shelf was labelled but no bottles. 1845, Golden Pride and Winter ale all available. I will return.

I caught up with the 2021 Vintage at another Waitrose two weeks ago, so it's around.

Tried the Old Winter Ale for I think the first time the other night and was rather underwhelmed.

Agreed, over-hopped (for the style), lacks expected Winter-Warmer meatiness and is ridiculously expensive for what it is.
