Good question. I'm not convinced that email notifications for PMs are currently working. I did get an email for a reply to a post yesterday, but have not received an email for a PM that's arrived
Ditto. I received a PM this afternoon but no email, even though I've got email notifications for PMs turned on. I do get emails for replies to my posts though.
So, I can confirm that emails for PMs do, indeed, appear to be broken.

Hi, any idea why I don't appear to be able to send messages? Is there a rite of passage?

I haven't had any problems sending p.ms. so far but I did note that one I sent to a contact some weeks ago wasn't answered and I haven't rec'd. any from my usual contacts for some time either.
Maybe they have just gone off me! Send me one Fudgenfun and I'll let you know if it arrives.

It is very probably as our
mc2fool says. Try conjuring up about three more contributions and it'll likely all start working. Things like this are to prevent automated spam-bots from sending off private messages (before our automation has a chance to throw them out).
