Best Of
THE go-to place when browsing TMF has always been 'Best Of'
This allowed you to see what's active, whether something you'd worked on had caught others' imagination, and a resource for discovering new places to bookmark.
Unless I've missed it there isn't a 'Best Of' here yet.
Please could it be added?
Many thanks!!!
KMcK
PS - it took ages to find where the 'Post New' button was. Please move to an obvious place up top.
PPS - Congratulations on taking on this MASSIVE start up task. It is very brave!!!!

Re: Best Of
There's discussion of this elsewhere. I think the issue is that the forum software "out of the box" does not support any sort of recs, which is obviously a requirement for 'best of'' - though I suppose you could make a "most read" page as an alternative. There are several alternative bits of add-in software for implementing recs/likes/dislikes. None of these probably implement a 'best of' page without some customisation, so suddenly we're looking at proper work that needs doing by someone to test these things.
But I agree - the 'best of' is vital in keeping people interested in the site by finding them interesting things to read.

Re: Best Of
Personally, I have hardly used the BoB for some years now. What I would MUCH rather see is "Favourite Boards", which is independent of the ability to rec, and allows me to focus on the boards I am interested in.

Revs, best of, favourites, all being looked into. Just need a little more time to resolve.

I'd agree with that. I only looked at BoB when somebody commented on it, usually in surprise that topic X was getting so many recs.

Re: Best Of
Sometimes though, BoB really helped. A few times I'd see a heavily recced post from a less-frequented board: Rural Living as an example - and some of Jerry's posts have been awesome. Until I added Rural Living to my subscribed boards, I'd not have realised what I was missing, without the existence of BoB.

Re: Best Of
For me, the BoB was always useful. I'd check my usual boards (mainly HYP!) but would always check BoB, for it's there that you pick up ideas outside your own normal frame of reference and make some surprisingly intructive discoveries.
It'll happen here before long, I'm sure.

Re: Best Of
There's a mod. for likes in phpBB developed by Tom Brennan here:
http://www.mildredbrennan.com/blog/?p=118
It's based on an out of date version, but quite often extensions or mods will work on a later version as I've discovered. However, it probably isn't approved by phpBB.

Re: Best Of
Well that looks OK, although I haven't tried to add a "like".
Being pedantic, "Been thanked" should be "Has been thanked" or just "Thanks".
