Why "Lemon Fools"?
Stooz,
So why?
And could the website title be truncated to "Lemon Fool" (singular)
Call me old fashioned, but I'm too old to stop calling it The Fool!
(even though "it" is less then 24 hours old)
Meatyfool..

Re: Why "Lemon Fools"?
I suspect the singular "Fool" and references to Motley might risk being construed as passing off, or trademark/copyright infringement. I note the previous reference to a "motley" bunch has disappeared....

Re: Why "Lemon Fools"?
I would have voted for Nest of Ninnies: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_Armin
Fool Upon Fool (1600, 1605; reissued in 1608 as A Nest of Ninnies), offers the wit of assorted natural fools

You will have to wait for Clariman on that one, I just went with his first answer!
I will amend the title to singular.
Do we need a pedants corner - for the pedanderists?

Why Lemon?
Isn't this a homage to the West Wing TV series.
"Lemon" is a prefix for a forum for crazy fanatics (who haven't taken their medication) and discuss all things Josh Lyman (the deputy chief of staff). The forum was called Lemon-Lyman.com

Re: Why "Lemon Fools"?
To answer the question about the name. Well the fool bit is self explanatory. I spent about 10 minutes thinking up names and seeing what domains were available. Foolsgold and others were taken. I think I sent 3 or 4 suggestions to Stooz. Lemonfool.co.uk worked for me because it was simple and memorable. I also like fruit Fools, especially lemon ones.
It certainly seems to have caught on, so something is working.

Clariman,
Begs the question,
Who do we award the annual Gooseberry Fool to?
The first unwelcome attendee to an LF social?

Re: Why "Lemon Fools"?
Strangely the first that that occurred to me was that it was because it was difficult to set up this site so quickly - difficult, difficult, lemon difficult.
Can't post a YouTube link to explain of course but some might know what on earth I'm talking about.

Re: Why "Lemon Fools"?
I thought it might be from the motivational (?!) expression;
When life gives you lemons, make lemonade
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/When_life_gives_you_lemons,_make_lemonade

A great comparison - maybe I should rename the forum strapline to just that...
It encompasses the whole ethos of the financial side of the boards...

Re: Why "Lemon Fools"?
Fool is from the French word "fouler" which means to mash/press.
Lemon Fool is a desert of mashed lemon folded into sweetened whipped cream.
Bitter/sweet deliciousness.

And there’s me wondering what the speed of light has to do with it.
