"An urgent recall has been issued for a cheese manufactured in Lancashire, over fears there may be E.coli present in some varieties.
According to the Food Standards Agency, Mrs Kirkham’s Lancashire Cheese Ltd has taken the precautionary step of recalling various products. There are concerns regarding the presence of the dangerous bacteria.
The recall notice affects four cheeses made by the company, based in Mill Lane, Preston. These are Smoked Lancashire, Mature Lancashire, Tasty Lancashire, and Mild and Creamy Lancashire.
All use by dates of all batches are affected if purchased since October 1, 2023. The products might be contaminated with Shiga toxin-producing E. coli."

Re: Mrs Kirkham's Cheese (E.coli risk)
Never heard of it. Though the e.coli risk is always there with cheese, and I eat rather a lot of it.
Is that something that might be found in supermarkets under a generic/own label, or more local/small-scale?

I bought some for Xmas but received an email from Neils Yard, the supplier, in time to avoid eating any. Cost refunded promptly too.

Was this outbreak of E. Coli infection due to the manufacturer using raw milk, rather than pasteurized?
