I wanted to be first on the new site to mention the Panasonic breadmaker, so here's my copied-across recipe for making your kitchen smell all lovely and Christmassy.

Put these in the breadpan:

1.25 tsp yeast
600g strong white flour
1.5 tbsp sugar
1.5 tsp salt
25g butter
250ml orange juice
150ml water

Put these in the raisin dispenser, mixed together:

100g mixed peel
25g cranberries
2 tsp cinnamon
0.5 tsp mixed spice
0.5 tsp nutmeg

Bake on normal raisin bread 4 hr programme. Voila! A fragrant smelling kitchen, and a sort of Christmassy version of a large hot cross bun, all ready for slicing, toasting and buttering. Spices and fruit mix can be adjusted for personal taste.

I sadly no longer have a Panasonic as they're not a thing here in the US; they are available, but don't get nearly the rave reviews and cult following of the UK ones, and people with experience of both have commented in Amazon reviews that the US ones are woefully underpowered by comparison. Probably something to do with the different voltage.

My current one is a brand called Zojirushi, which seems to work well enough. It has a long landscape rectangular pan with two paddles in the bottom, so does at least make a loaf of 'normal-looking' bread. I shall need to adapt my Christmas bread recipe for it, as not only is it a different size of pan, but I also now... *shameful whisper* think in US cups for baking purposes.

Thanks for copying this across kodokan. It had been on my to-do list to rescue it before the TMF boards disappeared, so now I don't have to.
