Ready Brek as flour?
I accidently panic bought some Ready Brek in the mistaken belief that it was food, not wallpaper paste.
Is there anything else it can be used for? The ingredients say oat and oat flour so I was wondering if this could make a bread of some sort.
I'e seen recipes for cookies/banana breads, but I don't have a sweet tooth.

I think that is probably better than trying to make it into something that it is not designed to be. Depends upon how much you like chocolate really. I haven't eaten it for years.

I have made oatcakes, the savory crackery things with oats blended so they're a coarse flour, I think ready break might swap out - there's a lot of internet recipes here's one https://pennysrecipes.com/7324/recipe-t ... l-oatcakes I've not tried it mind.

Staffordshire oatcakes ? (The proper oatcakes, like pancakes - had a couple for breakfast today nom nom)
That's if you have some plain flour to hand , local shops seem to be sold out

Home baking still popular I guess, although the breads supplies are, if not back to normal, at least much better than they were. I could actually buy a loaf in Sainsbury's t'other day...

A guess in the dark: could some of it be used in a regular crumble mix? I find adding oats to the regular flour-and-butter is good, though obviously that's not the same as your wallpaper paste. If it works, that's a series of dishes through the seasons, from rhubarb now through to blackberry and apple in the autumn.

Re: Ready Brek as flour?
There was an old fella on the wireless today, being interviewed about receiving government lockdown food parcels, as a vulnerable person ordered to stay home. He described it as a throwback to wartime rationing, with items like spam and tinned fruit. He even made a (not entirely favourable) comparison to Proust in how it stirred old memories.
Ready Brek featured prominently at the start of that interview: he was making the most of it and not complaining! Had I not read this thread a few days ago, I doubt the interview would have caught my attention!

LOL!
Me: I've got an old bag of half-used portland cement. Any ideas what I can do with it?
johnhemming: Mix in some melted dairy milk and trowel it over a cake as icing! Should taste delicious if you like chocolate -- and create a nice-looking surface too!

Well, as my quite recent, large tooth filling fell out yesterday...
Or perhaps I can glue it back in again using Ready Brek?
