Our cat brought us a rabbit last night.
Or at least, most of a rabbit.
It ate the head and front legs. Ear ear I said, but there wasn't.
It was cold last night so the rabbit is still fresh. Obviously with food banks n'all we'd feel bad if we wasted it. But it's only half there, not really enough for a meal so we need to eke it out.
That being the case, what goes well with rabbit?
Pork? Veal?
Suggestions on a postcard.

Re: What goes with rabbit
Do bear in mind wild rabbit is quite a strong gamey flavour (apolgies if that's teaching grandmothers to suck eggs). If you saok the meat overnight in water (even milk if you prefer) that may remove somenof the gameyness.
game pie - you'll need some game mix or or some game, mixed. probably easier to start with a small amount of game mix and add the rabbit to it
Or make a starter from the rabbit - tandoori/tikka rabbit maybe? Ot turkish kebab style (basically seek out a chicken based recipe and substitute for it)
Or search out rabbit a la moutarde, and just have small portions of it with a lot of mash and cabbage or whatever takes your fancy (or as a starter again).
Or make a rabbit pie and bulk the meat out with pork or chicken.
Mince the rabbit meat up and make burgers (you'll maybe need to add a bitt of fatty pork or similar as rabbit is very lean?)
howzat for starters?
I in a way dont have such issues at home cos im the only one that eats it son half a rabbit is enough. I suppose you could make a dish for you and your other half have a sandwich instead?

To be honest if only the head and front legs are gone youve most of what is available anyway - you wont have missed out on much.

I’d prepare it & then put it in the fridge for a day or two, whilst waiting to see what becomes of the cat.

Re: What goes with rabbit
Thankyou.
So many options!
Her catness solved the quantity problem last night with ... another rabbit.
This time she just ate the head. It occurs to me that she has never seen a chicken....
Now we have the quantity. I shall consult with the OH regarding the way forward, as they say.

The thought of the cat with a shotgun doesn't bear thinking about.

small bones only on the upper body part ie the rib cage area - which with a sharp knife you can fillet out if its that much of an issue
the cat doesnt have a shotgun I doubt.
