We looked at a couple of these today after having seen on the internet that "deep fill" was the new jargon and selling point since we are all so huge these days aren,t we!
We bought a Salter XL EK20175 Deep Fill sandwich toaster.
Upon opening it we saw that it was in fact no deeper than the old Breville but would require a bread slice of about 13x13 cm in size!
That,s 5x5 inches to us and it would appear from Salter,s Amazon,s comments that loaves don,t come this big in England.
Since it was made in China, we suspect that "XL" in chinese may well mean "extra large" as in "extra area". Secondly the chinese hieroglyph for "large" may be similar in appearance to the word "deep" and so the info on the box is wrong to use the word "deep".
We wonder if it is designed for the American market?
It was happily refunded by Asda I,m glad to say.
