I got distracted last night and steamed some green beans for faaaaar longer than they required. My wife said they tasted like tinned beans. I was thinking I could blitz them to a paste and use them as a soup base. If you did this what sort of soup, what ingredients, herbs and spices would you use?

Re: Green bean soup?
I've made Transylvanian bean soup in the past when I was looking to use up last year's frozen Cobra beans. A good soup IMO. Google has lots of recipe suggestions.

Re: Green bean soup?
You probably want to start with a regular base: fry an onion and some pepper. I expect green beans might work well with fresh/lively herbs like mint, coriander or parsley. If you're going to cream it, you could also use some not-too-strong root veg: a potato or carrot. Then serve with sour cream or similar dairy product on top.
Or the beans could be a secondary ingredient alongside something strong: a base like a french onion, or a spicy root veg, or a minestrone.
