I've just acquired a new electric fan oven, the old one used to keep the fan running for about 10 mins after it was switched off, the new one switches off straight away.
Is this just a matter of different designs, or is it something to be concerned about? The instruction manual ( Ha! ) says nothing.
What does yours do?
TIA

Re: Fan Oven running after switch off
Ours just switches off as well. I can imagine that a cooker might want to carry on dispersing heat for a little while after it's been switched off - our boiler certainly does! - but somehow I'm not all that keen on the idea of a cooker that isn't off when I switch it off. If you see what I mean?

Re: Fan Oven running after switch off
Ovens have cooling fans to ensure that the outside does not get dangerously hot.
How long they run depends upon the design. I too noticed a change, except mine is a gas oven. All I can think is that passive cooling design has improved.
Alternatively, once you turn the oven off, it's not going to keep heating. Hence while the door etc may actually get hotter just after turning off, there will be a upper limit which may be low enough not to be dangerous.

Re: Fan Oven running after switch off
Our gas oven goes off when we turn the gas off, but the fan may restart after a moment or 2 if the oven was being used at a high temperate or for a longish time at a medium temp.

Re: Fan Oven running after switch off
I've had both kinds. Previously, one where the fan cuts off when it's switched off, and then the likes of what we have now where it 'overruns' for a few minutes.
