Cashback offer on Halifax Clarity Credit Card

#407777

Postby raybarrow » April 28th, 2021, 7:00 pm

Hi,

Just an email offering 1% Cashback on the above card from 14th May to 14th August. Just need to Activate the offer online. Can't see any unusual restrictions. Cashback will appear after the offer ends. Anyone else had this?

Ray.

Yes - I've got this - actually almost ignored it until reading this post. Probably won't earn that much but maybe a pint's worth if I'm lucky :)

(Edited to add: after activation noted this: "Note: cash back is only available to customers who have received a personalised email from us."

I've had it too, and believe it to be legitimate.

Hi Folks,

It looked ok to me, just thought I'd check. 3 months at 1% worth the effort to use a different card for a month (I normally use a 0.5% cashback Barclaycard) and keeps the card alive for 2022 when we should be able to use it abroad, says he hopefully.

Cheers,
Ray.

I just logged in to check, and don't see the offer. Is it obvious where it is? (perhaps I just didn't get it)

I refer you to chas49's post:

Yes, my offer was via email.

In my case it is a rarely used card, being my reserve card (other than when abroad), so perhaps the promotion is aimed at getting near-dormant accounts back into profitable use?

And quite possibly those not taking up the offer, to have their limits reduced, and the associated contingent liabilities and accompanying capital cost lowered as another way of increasing profitability for the provider.

My card is also relatively inactive - only used for foreign txns hence little activity of late! So it does seem possible the promotionis targeted at customers who don't use their cards. After all, what's the benefit to the bank of giving this to people who already use the card a lot? :)

I've hardly used mine for over a year except for buying an expensive telly recently. Looks like that counts me out as I've not had an email.

Chas
You were offered 1% ?
I was offered 0.5%, I took it though, felt quite happy till I read that I was clearly on the reserve list...

Gets used once a month for a regular USD payment, plus annually for an annual €10 charge, for non-UK holidays (none since 2018) - no offer here.
I would love to receive the offer, given that you can pay lump sums off a NatWest Mortgage using a credit card, and get cashback...

Looks like I made the reserve list with 0.5% as well - so you're not alone!

I do have 2 other cards which pay that already though so I use them in preference, but suspect it might be a good idea to use my Halifax card for a bit so they don't cancel it!
