Updates to LibreOffice HYPTUSS, Simple Price Scrape and StepOneFTSE350

#672697

A few weeks ago, Yahoo made a change to their website such that our Excel and LibreOffice tools failed to download prices. A day or two later, the Excel tools worked OK, but LibreOffice still failed.

I think I've found the problem.... it looks like Yahoo no longer tolerates automated web-scraping tools (not unusual for many websites), and only support manual operations on web browsers. I've implemented some code which makes Yahoo think the query is coming from the Firefox browser on Windows, and not from a Python script.

I've tested the new code on Windows 10 and 11, and on Linux Mint and it seems to be OK.

We've previously stated that HYPTUSS is no longer supported, but having identified the fix for the Simple Price Scrape, it was then a trivial effort to update HYPTUSS.

LibreOffice HYPTUSS updated to version c-c at: https://lemonfoolfinancialsoftware.weeb ... op-up.html

LibreOffice Simple Price Scrape updated to version 2-3 at: https://lemonfoolfinancialsoftware.weeb ... crape.html

LibreOffice StepOne FTSE350 updated to version 1.47 at: https://lemonfoolfinancialsoftware.weeb ... se350.html

The Excel equivalents are unaffected.

Thanks for the update.

Just tested the LibreOffice version on Windows 10 (64 bit) and it's working for me too.

Sorry to report the Yahoo fix hasn't lasted long for me. I'm still using LibreOffice/windows 10(64 bit).

The first tab (Shareprices) works fine for my needs. Unless you really want to get the Yahoo price scrape working I happy with it as it is.

That's odd, still working fine for me on W10, W11 and Mint
edit.... you sure you are using v2-3?

Strange. Definitely using the new spreadsheet. It's working now.

I always keep the old sheets but rename them. I've deleted them all now.

I was using an old laptop for a couple of days this week but it's working there too.

Sorry for wasting your time.
