Hello folks,
I'd like to start a small local construction company, building townhouses and seeking for some recommendations on software for accounting in construction.
Thanks!

Planning to have a mix of both subcontractors and full-time folks on the books to keep things flexible.

Still ironing out the finer details

A bit dated, but when I wanted a job costing module for small works and at the time SAGE was too pricey I stumbled across Access Accounting.
No idea if still operating, or what they do these days re CIS and reverse charge invoicing which you may need to address, but they may assist.
The main issues in house building tend to be CIS, VAT and apportioning joint costs to individual properties when calculating profits(groundworks etc)
(we have now not built any houses for years)

For construction-specific accounting software, many people recommend QuickBooks for Contractors or FreshBooks as they offer features tailored for project management and job costing, which can be crucial in your line of work.
Your thread reminded me about my business. Two years ago I started a truck business with virtually no money was a huge challenge, but it was an adventure that taught me a lot about resourcefulness and strategic planning. One of the first things I learned was how crucial it is to have a clear business model and a solid pitch, especially when you're looking for investors or partners.
Finding reliable financial backing was critical. I stumbled upon an article which provided some fantastic advice on securing investors. This guide helped me understand the essential steps I needed to take.
