Embedded Charts

#374335

Postby mc2fool » January 7th, 2021, 2:08 pm

The main thing I'd long been using DigitalLook for was embedding charts in my LAN homepage. E.g. using the following as the src for an img tag put a small (167x100) intraday chart of the FTSE 100 on the page:

http://mediacharting.digitallook.com/cgi-bin/digital/chart_image.cgi?finance_chart=1&co_dimension%5ewidth=167&co_dimension%5eheight=100&tiny_chart=1&co_border%5eset=-1&ie=1&chart_action=chart_draw&chart_primary_ticker=UKX&chart_time_period=1_day

And I had code and options to expand it to a larger chart, show different time periods, add indices, etc, etc, and do the same for lots of shares, indices, currencies. All very nice but all gone now that DigitalLook appears to have permanently gone 503 Service Unavailable...

So, I'm looking for a replacement, some other service that I can similarly embed charts from.

I remembered Weebly had such a thing and found http://lemonfoolfinancialsoftware.weebly.com/price-charts.html, which looks ok at first glance, but that has some serious problems -- not least of which is the charts are missing most of 2018 and some of 2019! http://www.livecharts.co.uk/daily_chart ... dices_ftse

And it's very slow, and no intraday and ...

I have the same problem, mc2fool. I've searched high and low for an alternative to LiveCharts, but with no success so far. Just about every site has moved to an interactive chart format. I thought I'd found something suitable in https://stockcharts.com/h-sc/ui but sadly that doesn't work either.

The search continues
[edit...... ADVFN might be an option]

I'm playing with ADVFN at the moment. They have a bit of a confusing set of charts. E.g.

https://uk.advfn.com/p.php?pid=staticchart&s=FT^UKX&t=1&p=0&dm=0&width=600&height=400, lets you specify width & height at least. Haven't sussed the other parameters yet though.

https://uk.advfn.com/p.php?pid=legacydaily&epic=FT^UKX&type=1&size=2&period=12&scheme=&delay_indices=DELAYED_INDICES, only lets you specify a size of 1-3 (small, medium, big). If you login (free registration) and look at an index or share it's the Basic chart and one can play with and suss the parameters from the form.

However if you choose an intraday period it goes instead to:
https://uk.advfn.com/p.php?pid=legacyintra&epic=FT^UKX&type=1&size=2&period=a&freq=1&scheme=&delay_indices=DELAYED_INDICES which requires a login.
