Updated LibreOffice HYPTUSS available for test

#603897

Postby kiloran » July 22nd, 2023, 2:46 pm

Following the release of the Excel version for test: viewtopic.php?f=27&t=39916
the LibreOffice version is now also available for testing purposes at: https://lemonfoolfinancialsoftware.weeb ... _page.html

One slight difference..... the Index benchmarks on the Tracking sheet are fixed at FTSE-100 and FTSE All-Share. For some reason I'm struggling to get benchmark data from Yahoo. I think the problem is to do with cookies, yet the Excel version doesn't seem to suffer from this problem.

I'll get working on fixing the bugs reported for the Excel version

I have a problem with the dividend sheet no matter which source I use it continues processing, and the dividend amount doesn't come up. Everything else seems to be working well. I tend to use Dividend Data, slower but seems more reliable data. Not sure if it's relevant, but the last share is NESF Next Energy

Dividend Data does seem to have reliable data, but it is notoriously unaccepting of too many queries. I just tried it and it locked me out after 13 shares, one of which was NESF. However, HYPTUSS does continue and reports "No Div" for shares where it is locked out.
What is the last share for which it reports data, and the first share where it fails to report data?

I assume that your problem is with the LibreOffice version I just announced?

Yes, it is your latest version

All the options provide data but then stop after providing the last share data and don't give the dividend data amount. In the bottom left corner it still shows as processing the last share even when it has provided the information. The Dividend Data column fails to populate on any option chosen
Even when I delete the last share NESF and run it without, it still fails to provide the Dividend Payment amount.
12 shares in all

Hi@Kiloran

My first test of the new version of Hyptuss LibreOffice.

1) Of 12 shares/Investment Trusts 3 failed to register a price.
These are:-

a) Abrdn UK Smaller Cos Growth Trust PLC AUSC Investment Trust
b) Maven Income & Growth MIG5 Venture Capital
c) Montanaro European Smaller Cos. Inv Trst. MTE Investment Trust

All present in previous version.

2) Of 12 shares/Investment Trusts 3 did not have full additional data. Prices yes.
These are:-

a) Shell plc SHEL Oil & Gas 2418
b) Scottish Mortgage SMT Investment Trust 691.8
c) Witan Investment Trust WTAN Investment Trust 233

I could not find a means of uploading a .pdf .jpg to you to show you. Help in this respect appreciated.

Also appreciated the effort you are putting in on our behalf (we mere mortals).

Hi Terry.
I see that AUSC, MIG5 and MTE are not in the current Company Data Sheet. Unless you added these, then you won't get a price. I've added them to the file compant_data_sheet.txt at https://lemonfoolfinancialsoftware.weeb ... op-up.html and you can update your HYPTUSS with this.
The next version of HYPTUSS that I publish will include this.

For SHEL, SMT and WTAN, can you clarify what you mean by "did not have full additional data" to give me a fighting chance of investigating the problem?

I think I've found the problem. After getting the dividends for all the shares, HYPTUSS gets exchange rates. I forgot about this, it's still trying to get exchange rates from Yahoo and just hangs. I'll update this to get exchange rates from https://www.lse.co.uk/fx/USDGBP.html which is used for the share price exchange rate

I'm struggling to understand that unformatted data. I'm also not convinced that you have updated the company data sheet with the current version. Can you confirm?

Then try reposting your data with a better format. You can copy data from your spreadsheet and paste into this tool https://lemonfoolfinancialsoftware.weeb ... ormat.html
I suggest table or pre tags are best for this data. Then copy the output of the tool and paste into your post. You can practice this on the Test board viewforum.php?f=28 where any posts are automatically deleted after a number of days (30?)

MTE and AUSC are not currently listed in the "company data sheet" in the latest LibreOffice version (nor MIG5 - not heard of that one) hence the scrape result.

I just downloaded version b-z.

(The file was READ ONLY when I downloaded it at 17:57 today .. do you have it open still?)

That's correct, and why I questioned whether the user had updated the company data sheet to include them, and I then published an updated company data sheet

Very odd! I just downloaded b-z to another machine, and it worked fine (apart from the known Yahoo issues)

No idea what's going on there. I downloaded fresh copies to two different Windows 10 laptops, and also to Linux Mint running in VirtualBox and they all opened and ran fine.
Beyond my pay grade, I'm afraid.

Maybe the ods file is on a network share or a zip folder?
Copy it to a local disk/desktop/document folder. Maybe right click to get properties and mark it as safe even thought it's "download from the internet"

The bottom three shares (SHEL / SMT / WTAN) have no figures for 'Shares Held', so that's likely to be the primary issue regarding the other missing related data.

It's not clear how you've managed to get into that situation, but you're probably best deleting those three bottom entries and adding them back in using the 'Add Share' button, where you'll be asked to declare the number of held shares as part of that process, and which auto-configures the rest of the share fields correctly as you do so.

Alternatively, if you're struggling with the whole process of correctly moving an existing portfolio into a new vanilla release of HYPTUSS, then this video will hopefully help demonstrate the simplest and quickest method -

HYPTUSS portfolio transfer process - https://vimeo.com/232215342

Once you've done that, and then run the price and yield update processes, I think you'll find things looking a lot better...

Cheers,

Hi Kiloran

Just downloaded it and tested it with my usual shares portfolio. I didn't change any of the parameters (apart from later changing the charts), but I did add my usual additional shares to the Company Data Sheet.

Results were mixed I'm afraid:

1. Forecast Yield worked fine.

2. Dividends worked fine (apart from Sharecast's usual tendancy to be a year out of date on many shares)

3. Share Prices however were mostly absent. The only ones which worked were CLIG, HLN, WINE, MPAC, PAF, POLR.
The rest returned nothing at all:
AV
BA
BKG
BLND
CNE
CNA
CSN
EPIC
ESNT
GFRD
GSK
UKW
GNC
HSBA
IMB
LGEN
LLOY
MARS
MONY
NG
PFC
RGL
RIO
SHEL
SDR
SSE
TW
ULVR
VTY
VOD

4. Are the charts supposed to be working on this test version? All the ones I've tried were blank using the default Livecharts, but are showing ok if I switch to Trustnet. (But I've occasionally seen that happen in previous versions and then appear again in the next day or so.)

5. I also added my watchlist shares as usual - same problem as with the main HYP tab - only a handful of the shares produced prices (although again the Yields came up fine.

6. One final thing (which is probably just an anomaly) I have a US/Canada share SLF which I normally add to the list and update manually. I forgot to omit it from this test and to my surprise it brought up a price of 123 which is of course nonsense. A curiosity but probably not important.

Hope this helps. Happy to supply any further info if needed or to test any further versions.

Many thanks as always for your hard work

I just tried all of these and all prices were retrieved without problem on the main HYP sheet and the Watchlist. I can only imagine that there was a temporary glitch on the SharePrices website when you tested it.

I found this problem a few days ago. LiveCharts (the default) have changed their webpage and their charts are no longer usable in HYPTUSS. This option will be deleted. Trustnet charts are OK

I'll fix this so that a failure to get a price gives a more sensible response

Something very odd happened there. Last night I tried updating the prices again and the same failure occurred, with the same few shares updating and the rest failing.

I then checked my version of version of Libre Office, noted it was slightly old (7.2.7.2), and updated it to the current version.

Still no price updates.

So I then downloaded a new copy of the spreadsheet and tried adding a couple of the failing shares using the Add Share button, and this time they worked fine. So I then proceeded to load the whole portfolio as usual. There was only one slight difference I made - the first time there were a few shares pre-selected but I just selected and pulled down the first line. This time I deleted all but the good old BP and then selected and pulled down as usual.
This time it works fine.

All very odd. The slight change in routine shouldn't really have made any difference and as I said previously the other facilities like getting the Yield had been working fine on the first version so it would seem as if the shares were entered ok, yet first version it doesn't work and the second it does?!
And of course it was happening on the watchlist that first time too so it was more than just the HYP tab. If there had been some sort of file corruption I'd have expected the other facilities to fail too.

So anyway, worth keeping an eye out for oddities, but otherwise it seems to be working ok now.

Ok, that's fine. Let's hope Trustnet don't change or that we find a suitable second option just in case!

cheers
