Bath

Have you ever gone to have a bath in your new gaff and had the bloody thing fall over with you in it, bath water and all?

Just me then.

HYD

Note to Self: This modern, expensive bath, might look big and flash but it’s not attached to anything other than the water pipe, hence if you sit on the side, both of you are going to take a tumble.

I can’t imagine anyone has to be honest. It’s not something that I ever imagined happening to me!

I thought that free standing baths died with Alf Garnett and Albert Steptoe but clearly I was wrong.

Totally off topic - but absolutely on topic

In 1998 I built a new home for a somewhat demanding customer. I won't say rude and obnoxious ;)

He had underfloor heating throughout the home. He had a free standing bath delivered and explained that the bath sat on the four feet, one in each corner and the weight of the bath and some screws in the floor would keep the bath in-situ.

He wasn't prepared to accept the costs if screwing the feet to the floor hit an underfloor heating pipe. I told him the feet would not be screwed to the floor then. He approached the joiner and told him to fix the feet to the floor with screws. The joiner asked me and I said no.

About two months after he moved in and quite late one night the phone rang. It was his wife. She sounded irate. Earlier that evening the gentleman in question had gone for a bath. He started to fill the bath and whilst it was running got undressed. Now at this point in time he seems to have had a somewhat radical thought and decided to find out if the bath feet had been screwed down.

OK ... wait for it ... he stood behind the taps and lifted the bath. At which point the two front feet fell away and the full weight of the bath and the water within was in his hands. Naked and beginning to feel the weight of the bath and contents he decided to start screaming for his wife to come and turn the taps off and let the water out.
