the number of incursions by Chinese fighter planes has increased in the past 2 years

Let’s call it the Crimea Strategy

I suspect that the Nine Dash Line will be consolidated first (to all intents and purposes, even if not universally recognised). That will be a nice propaganda win internally and externally. Taiwan itself can be left dangling for many more decades yet

G7 summit: Taiwan looms large as Japan prepares to host leaders

Japan becomes the 3rd biggest military spender in the world......the US is 're-shoring' goods that were previously made in China faster than ever before......the west has made significant moves to restrict the most advanced semi conductors to China and made moves to secure their manufacture elsewhere in the world....AUKUS - Australia signs deal for nuclear powered submarines....Japan and South Korea on talking terms again, a large US military presence all throughout SE Asia

Meanwhile, Russia and China feeling ever more encircled by the west. Russia exposed as a having a poor military capability in Ukraine and China's ever increasing domination of the South China Sea.

Where's it gonna end? At best a cold war. At worst.....?
