Not so much if it's a quiet one, as imaginary clouds of the stuff formulate somewhere, and it's[*] positively lethal.  but you simply wish the person who is gagging to bits a pleasant day and move abruptly leaving them thinking they just stumbled on a sewer pit.

Also so much easier to have a hot bath these days and have some good scissors to cut those ripper like toenails off that are harder than cement, so a good soaking is invaluable. Trouble is, stomach so huge can hardly get there without ripping one's stomach muscles and then after some contortion you manage to get the right angle, scream in agony, as you have forgotten that you can't see, and cut half your foot off, which results in you banging your head at the end of the bath and knocking yourself out.

Can sort this if you have a shower over your bath- when you start a very long shower in it put in plug, as you shower your feet soak, at end of shower get out and use edge of bath to raise foot and cut your toenails.

That assumes that you can step over the side of the bath and can cut your own toenails.

Choose your chiropodist with care. However neuropathy may solve your problem.

When your next boss is younger than you, is a bit of a career wake up call. That happened to me in my mid 40s. Not so much "where did I go wrong" rather "look who has caught/is catching up". My age is a very nebulous thing at work now - I do not discuss it, or my birthday, and make it difficult to determine from my online profiles. I usually knock a couple years off if it comes up. I've recently taken a permanent job which is a huge relief as it means I should not now have to look for another in my 50s. My next boss is now 10 years younger.

Same here and that was my signal to quit working. Plus the fact that my portfolio would change in value every day by an amount greater than what I made at work in a day

I recall that he would give me jobs to do and I would write his reports for him because his grammar and spelling were so bad.

Biggest annoyance about getting old? Having to get up during the night to pee.

Surely the age to dread is not where you have to get up, but where you struggle and fail to get up in time! :(

Still cutting our own toenails, but we have had the bath/shower removed and replaced by a spacious walk in-out shower.
A friend chose a side-opening bath, but discovered that it was unpleasant sitting in it, getting chilled, while waiting for it to drain.

I'm in Sevilla right now and being old is wishing that I had been bohemian when I was younger but the problem is that I don't think I knew the term bohemian when I should've been :(

Hippy friends of mine a long time back opted for a home water birth with their first child.
So they hired the large tub assembled in parts, in the living room, holding God knows how much water.
Gives you one other (huge awkward messy) thing to deal with that wasn't on your mind when you decided to try it

She did get to publish an article about it though

You will know you are old when, disembarking from your place of slumber or your comfy chair, the utterances you make are the same as the ones you used to emit whilst having sex.

Reminds me of a Viz Top Tip:
Men in their fifties, fit in with other men in their fifties by making a groaning noise whenever you get out of a chair, and muttering "for f___s sake" to yourself ten times a day.

I realised I was getting old when I received a "50 year Member" badge from my professional institute, then I received a State Pension letter indicating that I would be receiving a 25p per week addition shortly - from my 80th birthday. Clearly we oldies are well looked after :)

Congratulations, I did not know you got more SP at age 80. I am a ways off that but am now getting my SP.

So what can you still buy for 25p these days? A pencil? A pee at your local railway station?

I was 'disgruntled' when I received a letter from SAGA....at 50 years of age. What are they trying to do...catch 'em young?

My memory of Saga, it was the magazine of the over 50s.

The old Saggers, my former mother in law used to call them, back in the days when they were primarily in the holiday business. Said it all, really. ;)

My mother went on one of those Saga holidays once, to Italy. I would pay a lot to not go on one but she had a good time sloshing down wine with the other grannies. Times have changed now which I guess explains their demise.
