All very good! I guess we'll see the first doses drop now as the second doses start ramping up - and there's the supply delay with the AZN shipment

Second doses may be in some question.

Spoke to my dad this morning (he's a little older than the Queen - so should qualify for high priority). There seems to be some issue with his second Pfizer jab. Although it sounds like an organisational issue rather than a supply one.

I had a chat with my mum (79) today. She had the first Pfizer one end of Jan and they said expect 10-11 weeks before #2
Not sure if there's enough data on efficacy with a long gap? Not the right board to discuss this so may post elsewhere

I've just realised I've run further this month than I've driven this year.

Not completely surely? They've all got Elgin suntans.

LOL, Google and curiosity make a wonderful combination. So there really is a Ditsy Teacup in Elgin? Would go down well in the ditsier parts of Bath, that's for sure. (And the weather's more amenable to a street culture.)

But we do our best. Some local wag converted a village post office into a coffee shop called the Toast Office. Would have done very nicely too if it hadn't been murdered by covid.

Just being able to go and sit down somewhere for a drink would be nice, even if it's tea rather than beer

Ditsy Teacup - I can picture it. Nice floral teacups, little finger pointing outwards. Almond slices. Doilies...
Sounds wonderful

Looks lovely actually - I'd happily pop in there to take the weight off my feet for a while whilst out shopping. Mmm scones...

Why on Earth would anyone (of either sex) want to drink tea by lesser volumes?

Pints are the right unit for at least three great drinks: tea, beer and cider.

I disagree. The unit of tea is a cup. 3 cups equals a pot. One drinks a pot of tea if thirsty, a cup if polite. Some might consume a mug of tea in less formal surrounds or whilst working.

A pint of tea suffers too great a temperature drop between start and end.

Now Uncle, do you concur or must I give you 100 lines repeating the above?

I'll take the pot as an acceptable unit, but not the miserly cup. If presented with one of those I find it very difficult indeed to remain polite.

As for temperature drop, I infer either you drink painfully slowly, or you have some defective cup with inadequate heat retention. Indeed, I can infer the latter from the mere fact that it differs materially from your pot.

It had me confused as the ship is the Ever Given and it has EVERGREEN in big letters on the side
Assume Evergreen operate a number of ships Ever Given, Ever Taken, Ever Falleninlove(withsomeoneyoushouldnthavefalleninlovewith), Ever McEverface etc ?

Evergreen (Evergreen Lines & Evergreen Marine) operates 189 container ships.

I prefer a mug of tea too.

The generation before me are/were fond of serving tea in dainty little china cups, with the obligatory saucer. As one cup was never enough, there would be a second round using the same tea after more hot water had been added to the pot. Result - a lukewarm and flavourless second cup. Ugh!

Ooh, this is a good game. Excluding books:
1 Snow and Ice Grip shoes
2 Portable Wifi
3 Wifi Mice
4 Handheld Mixer
5 Fresh Curry Leaves
6 Ajwain seeds
7 Hiking shoes
8 Dried Anchovies
9 Fire TV stick
10 Mustard Oil

Descriptions are per Amazon.

1 - to put in the car following this winter .
2/3 = they're for a local Men in Sheds,
4 they die sometimes
5/6/8/10 Not got a clue where I'd get them locally
7 Walking on pavements kills Vibram soles - these are replacements - Grisport Dartmoor, and highly recommended.
9. 4k version, traded in the old one.

I reckon the ingredients would never have happened, the ice grips I'd have given up on, and the rest I would have overpaid on, or the Firestick wouldn't exist - and they would all have involved travel. There's nothing here that I could have added social value by shopping locally, but I support the idea. For me that's butcher. baker, greengrocer, wholefood shop. Going to the mall - meh,

Snorvey wrote:It might have cost be a wee bit more.....but is there more social 'value' when you actually go out to get it?

Not much.

There could be casual social interaction (most likely smalltalk - which means more under lockdown than normally), but being forbidden talking normally kind-of puts a sock in that.

I've been to three shops today: two great local specialist shops, and one Lidl. The latter was only a basket-sized load, but even so I was feeling pretty groggy by the time I got to the checkout. The pleasure has gone out of it. Unlike in last April lockdown, when routine shopping was suddenly so surprisingly pleasant!

And if you'd be driving, that's another layer of badness.

As for your cuppa tea, even cafes are closed in England. Is Jockland sufficiently different that your Ditsy Teacup could serve you anything beyond perhaps a polystyrene cup of something they'd be ashamed of in normal times?
